Time to grow old gracefully and accept that things are different now.
Sorry Quinny, not at all true, at least here in the US of A.
The music scene is terrible. My son is 20 and his pals and their girls are all 20 - 21 and they say the music sucks. None of them spend any money on music. They don't even download that much. And they are all "hip", fashionable, good looking young adults - just the kind of young people so attracted to Disco. They like my classic Disco collection and are getting into that more. So...

i don't think there has ever been a time (at least during the last quarter century) when there have been so many people so discontent about the state of popular music. this goes way beyond how old we are, how disenchanted we are with today's youth, blah blah blah.

i think there is still plenty of great music being made, but little of it gets much exposure, particularly in the us, because the record companies and the radio stations are now controlled by an ever-shrinking group of businessmen more interested money and power than music.

Er, music is a business, the aim of which is to make money for the participants.

Of course there's still lotsa good music being made. However, we's so stuck up our own asses now that we've fortgotten how emotive, exhillirating and fun, music can be. If anything, music is a victim of its own success. What happens once you've brainwashed everyone's minds and domination has been more or less complete?
