Default Ashford & Simpson Sighting!!!

NIck & Val make a guest appearance on Michael McDonald's PBS "Soundstage" concert show airing around the country this week. It aired Saturday night here in LA. McDonald sings his hits & promotes his "Motown" covers cd. During the Motown set, he brings Nick & Val out to help him do their compositions "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" & "Ain't Nothing Like the Real Thing". Then they return for the "Takin' It To The Streets" finale. McDonald also brings out 2 former Doobie Brothers for solo stints --Patrick Simmons sings lead on "Black Water" & Tom Johnston sings their Motown cover "Take Me In Your Arms".

It's over all too fast.

Markey: I saw that show and have to admit, I did enjoy it. I was especially impressed when McDonald acknowledged what great writers Ashford and Simpson are (by the way, who's that dynamite female drummer he has....I also saw her playing with Kid Rock). At the same time, though, I sure hope he's finished covering Motown songs. He's not Smokey, Stevie or Marvin...
