Default Queen Samantha Vocalist

Does anyone know who sings on the track "Take a Chance" by Queen Samantha... I suspect that one of them is Lisa (of "Jump Shout" fame). Thanks!! 8)

While the album lists the musicians, it makes no mention as to who did vocals. Since it is a French production I would highly doubt it was Lisa of "Jump Shout" fame. Doesn't sound like her either.

yeah I know it's French--- but one of the mix guys I think shows up working in the states for megatone and may have remixed one of her songs, I think. Also, her songs "Mandatory Love" and "Sex Dance" show her voice at a more conversational mode and I think I am hearing the same inflections. I get the feeling that she was plucked out of the chorus as it were to become a headliner for a while. What do we know about her bio anyway? Anything? Thanks!! 8)

Megatone did release a later Queen Samantha track "Close Your Eyes"--but that was around 1983. "Take A Chance" was from 1979, I think.

Lisa recorded for Moby Dick, another San Francisco label and was produced by John Hedges & Barry Blum.

I've got 'Close Your Eyes' on a Canadian Celcius 7" single from '79 - it's the b-side of 'Mama Rue'; did Megatone re-release it or was it an updated recording?

Hmmm...musta been a re-issue on Megatone. Ii did sound sorta old-fashioned in 1983.

Queen Samantha's "Close Your Eyes" is a killer song that should have gone further. Even though the Megatone release states 1983, I can definitely hear that '79 sound.

yes, "close your eyes" was remixed on a megatone 12" that came years after the original.

there is no connection between lisa and queen samantha besides the obvious overlap in their audience.

Default I surrender (happily)

listening to my CD (the best of...) it seems to me that there are more than one female vocalist in QS--- and that Lisa probably is not one of them--- France, my mixing up of Meagatone with Moby Dick, and my momentary confusion (hitherto unrevealed!) about Burgess (listed as mixer of "The Letter") who clearly had nothing to do with either of the SF outfits---well, um er, I'm wrong. It is all so long ago and so far away--- although when the disc is on it IS 1981 again! And I agree about "Close Your Eyes"--- what a fun song, it is the b-side of "Funky Celebration"--- and it sure does have a 1979 vibe--- when I bought the 12" in 1983 (or '84) I thought it sounded old-fashioned. Too bad it has not been released on CD yet. AND how about the song that started this thread, "Take a Chance?"--- I mean isn't that "Neptune-from-the-PLanets-by-Holst" vibe enticing? And I think the fade out of the voices about 2/3's of the way in and the single stroke of percussion that restarts the song are utterly divine. Enough from me for now!
