Default French Connections - brand new book!

Saw French Connections in a bookstore and an hour later realised I had read almost half of it. It's all about French dance music from the first discotheques to the very latest sounds from F Communications etc., and disco is well documented. There's an interesting chapter on Cerrone and though the writer tends to describe the man as a pompous joke he does give respect to tracks like Love In C Minor or Cerrone's Paradise and especially Supernature, the Give Me love b-side included. The writing flows and there's a LOT of great information and trivia. Laurent Garnier thinks Cerrone is nothing special but the consensus seems to be, according to the author, that the albums are true classics. So there!- After having recieved what seemed the most valuable info sitting there in the bookstore quite lost in the prose I didn't buy the book, a wrong move. I'll have to go back. If you see it grab it - it's by a Martin someone, a British author.

JussiK, does he cover the wartime period, too, and Régine, Whiskey-A-Go-Go? Wondering how far back he went.

He's written a few books over here. I think he did one on drum'n'bass.

It's almost all there, 2nd WW, the jazz dance clubs, Regine, Gainsbourg, Claude Francois. Not a word on Costandinos, though.
