Well, sure I'll do that...one question though: can I still edit it after I post it in the Vault? ( Never done this before) Cause I'm hoping to get some more info into it....so should I wait until it's ready? :-? Yes, I like to edit and futz and polish and spit shine. It's just the way I am.

No, you won't be able to edit after posting anything on the MAIN site so you may want to wait till you get it just right.

Marky, I would just like to add my appreciation and THANKS for the hard work you put into the '75 Charts. Be sure that when you shuffle off this mortal coil you WILL be admitted into Disco Heaven!!! I know your eyes are probably still seeing double after the efforts on the '75 stuff, But .......are you going to attempt any more years ? 1976 ???? Thanks again

Hey thanks Starsky. :D I will continue with a new thread for 1976 after I get a rest from this one. I still have more info that could be added to this one... 1) The Top 100 according to placement on the Disc-o-la Fortune 500..(I've already written this out; just haven't typed it yet). 2) Bubbling Under The Top 100....I have 361 more titles for 1975--I could add some more.... 3) OR I could say goodbye to '75 and just start 1976...I've already compiled the charts thru the first week in March (I did this last November just before the presidential election--but made myself quit to start compiling the yearend stats). Let's just say that it gets good once we get into early February of 1976. COMING SOON TO THE DISCO COMPILATION CONSENSUS!!! MORE, MORE, MORE MOVIN'/CHANGIN' THAT'S WHERE THE HAPPY PEOPLE GO TURN THE BEAT AROUND ZONE ( surely someone musta heard Q playing this in Spain?) STRANGERS IN THE NIGHT LOVE HANGOVER TOUCH AND GO GET UP AND BOOGIE TRY ME I KNOW WE CAN MAKE IT/LOVE TRILOGY THIS IS IT YOUNG HEARTS RUN FREE I'LL GO WHERE YOUR MUSIC TAKES ME I'M GONNA LET MY HEART DO THE WALKING TEN PERCENT NICE AND SLOW CATHEDRALS YOU'LL NEVER FIND ANOTHER LOVE LIKE MINE HEAVEN MUST BE MISSSING AN ANGEL LOWDOWN by the first week in June of 1976. :D :D :D :D So if you have a preference, let me know what you'd like to see.......

Hi Marky, Hey I would be happy for you to continue with 1975 before starting 1976. I can wait ......already waited 29 Years ;-) I didn't realise you still had so much 1975 info. Better to get it logged now while it is still fresh in your mind. (Pity we can't 'GRID Network' all of our collective brains to help you type it up !) I would like to know what the 'Disc- o-La Fortune' is though ? Was it a music forum/magazine ?? I have often seen it listed, but don't know it's source or background ? Also, I was intrigued as to how the track timings for CD's sometimes appear to be longer than the actual 45/12" mixes ? Wonder if the engineers took advantage of the technology to burn every last note off the master tapes, or whether CD timers run slower ?????

***** Marky ..I agree with all that Starsky has said. Continue with 1975 while it is still fresh and the desire to do so is within you. As for me .. I am pleasantly immersed in 1975 ...catching up on a part of disco that pre-dates me just a tad .... I was enjoying the music then that I learned of via the radio .... .... like the Ohio Players and the O'Jays .... but I wasn't yet going to clubs ...so all the wonderful "secret" club music of that time .... I didn't really become familiar with . By the time I was more involved ... waaay later .......1976 ... disco 1975 was ancient history !!! :D :D So I am having a blast catching up . There's even a certain degree of that same thrill ..when hearing one of these old tunes and it "clicks" ... that recognition of that tune deserving to make it ... Of course it can never match the level of the excitement of the discovery process back then ..when one was trying to hear what song could next capture the adoration of the dancefloor ...but it is still fun to hear these tunes and appreciate their contributions to this genre ... why they made it ...... ......as well as the simple enjoyment of just listening to them ... There is so much good uptempo soul from 1975 and lush orchestrations ...elements of disco I was always drawn to . And investigating the early developments of the disco sound of these songs and how they were the precursors of so much yet to come ..very interesting. There was alot more "anything goes" at this point ... Looking at your list of what is heading down the turnpike , it is clear that we are about to enter the disco era full force .... many of the classics are in the can and are about to hit the streets... I'm, looking forward to getting into 1976 as well.... :D But right now I'm happily fixed in 1975 (listening to the Trammps's "STOP AND THINK" :D as I write this ...... Thanks for providing the incentive to delve into all this Marky! I'm having a blast with it .... :D remicks *****

***** Marky , do you have all these songs from 1975's year end TOP 100?? You mentioned you are listening to them all on CD on your way to work ?? I am familiar with a large number of them now and beyond ..... even Ursula Dudziak's "PAPAYA" ..... Her "TIC TOC" is better, enjoyable actually. :D :D *****

Sorry, I've been busy lately. To answer your question...these are the records from the Top 100 that I don't have or have in "undefinitive" versions.... #6) EASE ON DOWN THE ROAD (I used the Broadway version with Stephanie Mills on my tapes; I also have a version by Hues Corporation.) :D :D :D #35) E-MAN BOOGIE (I have the 1983 12" remix--not the original version) #45) SUNNY (I have it in a mixed LP called "Disco Hustle"--would like the whole thing.) #47) (NOBODY LOVES ME) LIKE YOU DO DO (I have part 2 on a tape someone made for me--have never heard part 1) #55) LET'S DO THE LATIN HUSTLE #68. LIFE IS WHAT YOU MAKE IT #70) (DO YOU WANNA) DANCE, DANCE, DANCE #75) LOVE IS EVERYWHERE #77) ESCAPE FROM TOMORROW #84) PEACE AND LOVE #88. (THEME FROM) LADY, LADY, LADY (ARE YOU CRAZY FOR ME?) #93) IT'S IN HIS KISS #94) EACH MORNING I WAKE UP #100) LOOK ON THE GOOD SIDE I had to skip these or use the lesser versions I had on my compilation. So if anyone wants to offer me "tips" on where I might obtain any of those.....feel free to contact me... I am a charter member of the Blanche DuBois school of music collecting--depending on the kindness of strangers, if ya get my drift..... :D :D Oh and I'd love ta hear PAPAYA also--I can't quite imagine what the hell that sounds like!!! :P |

| OK, as I mentioned earlier...I'm gonna list the top DISCO RECORDS of the late 1974--end of 1975 era (10/26/74 - 12/27/75) as they appeared on the famous Disc-O-La Fortune 500: Discotheque Songs of the '70s. This list was compiled by someone named Ed Rothschild with assistance from Johnny Tripp and Chipper McKearnin and appears in its entirety in the back of Mel Cheren's book, Keep On Dancin': My Life and the Paradise Garage (2000); (Supposedly, this list came to fruition sometime in the Eighties; I don't know the specifics. The list goes back as early as the late Sixties for a few titles and then culls some from the early Seventies and stops at the end of 1979--no records from the Eighties are included--a few charted in 1980--but were actually released in late 1979) So using only the records that appeared on the Billboard Disco charts during that period I've compiled a list of 97 (actually more since they double up on titles)... Records with one * asterisk were on the first chart and therefore have an incomplete point total on the Disco Compilation Consensus. Records with two ** asterisks are on the final chart of 1975 and therefore have an incomplete point total also. Some records on the D-O-LA 500 are listed with another big hit by the same artist from outside the era I've compiled in the DCC; for example "It Only Takes a Minute" is combined with "Heaven Must Be Missing An Angel" from 1976--for my purposes I'm only listing the records from the time period specified above. Make sense? Get it? Got it? Good. For the record: Disc-O-La Fortune 500 lists: #1) SHAME - Evelyn "Champagne" King (1978) #2) LE FREAK - Chic (1978-1979) #3) TRY ME, I KNOW WE CAN MAKE IT - Donna Summer (1976) #4) SAN FRANCISCO/ IN HOLLYWOOD - Village People (1977) DISC-O-LA FORTUNE 500: TOP DISCO RECORDS (10/26/74 - 12/27/75) Ranking/ (D-O-LA ranking)/Title/ Artist/ Disco Compilation Consenus Ranking 1) (#5) HONEY BEE/ *NEVER CAN SAY GOODBYE/ REACH OUT, I'LL BE THERE (Medley) - Gloria Gaynor (DCC #27 (medley)/ * single (#31*) 2) (#24) ASK ME - Ecstasy, Passion & Pain (DCC: #108 *) 3) (#31) BAD LUCK - Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes (DCC: #1) 4) (#33) SUGAR PIE GUY - The Joneses (DCC: #161 *) 5) (#34) I LOVE MUSIC - The O'Jays (DCC: #5 **) 6) (#35) YOU'RE THE FIRST, THE LAST, MY EVERYTHING - Barry White (DCC: #49 *) 7) (#38.) | As I was waiting to make a left turn into my office building today my Top Hits of 1975 countdown tape was playing "Fight the Power" by the Isley Brothers. Traffic was stopped and the young black guy in the car in the opposite lane was sorta bopping to my tune. Then "Fight The Power" faded out and the next tune started...."I Could Have Danced All Night" by Biddu Orchestra. I quickly turned the sound down.   From Kool 8) 8) 8) to Ultra-Nelly    in a matter of seconds.   |

My bad. I think the answer lies in splitting the chart into 2 segments. #1-50; then #51-100. Maybe then I can add stuff. Wish me luck.
