I've got some stuff by this brilliant & IMO under-rated songstress from her hi-nrg period (eg 'Dont Leave Me This Way' from '86) & her house/90s period (eg 'Do You Believe In The Wonder') but I'd love to get her '82 LP called 'Me & You' as I'd like to hear her sing to a backing of 'real' instrumentation! I can't find this LP anywhere; is anyone here familiar with it & describe what it's like to me please? I seem to remember reading in a review of it at the time in B & S that it featured a track produced by Sylvester ( returning the favour no doubt after Ms.Tracy did some vocals on his 'Too Hot To Sleep' LP from '81.)

She did a track with Freddie Hubbard, called 'You're Gonna Lose Me', which was big enough to get released on a UK 12" in 1981. All over the pirates, it was... :lol:

I've had the '82 LP a couple of times - I never played it through much, but I used to hammer 'I'm Your Jeanie', which is a funky, slapped bassed stormer. It came out on a promo 12" - one side (Fantasy label) and Azymuth's 'May I Have This Dance' (Milestone label) on the flip. Worth getting if you see this - and an easy record to lose if you don't remember it having different labels on either side!

Strange u should mention the Freddie Hubbard 'Youre Gonna Lose Me' track as I was thinking about ordering his 'Splash' LP that it's taken from as I always loved that track & I'm building up a late 70s/early 80s jazz fusion LP collection at the moment as well as my disco stuff.
In reference to the promo 12 u mentioned Forrrce, I've never come across one with different record labels on each side! How unusual. :o

Funny - I have a few old 12"s like that - they're all from around 1976. There's one by G.F. & Company which sounds like an early 'Let's Dance Across The Floor' (Monument/SS7) - plus another that I play a lot by Zebra, on Warwick/flipped with Jan Records.

:lol: :lol: Geez, do I remember this 12" and how annoying I found it to have two different labels. I finally settled on filing under Fantasy since 'Jeanie' was the joint. Now that I don't file by label anymore guess what problem I'm having... :x :roll:

HI STEELY i have this album and tried to find it last night but couldnt as im still in a mess after moving house [but whilst looking i did find my heartsoppers album on all platinum :P ]
i bought it as a new release and treated it exactly as FORRRCE did, didnt play it much and hammered im your genie but now dying to replay it again will let you know when i find.
jeanie was around in the 70's too she recorded 'making new friends' on brown door records [mid decade] it was itching for plays at blackpool mecca but was always at the back of levines box,just too many records to get through and also overshadowed by another release on the label marvin holmes and justice -'you better keep her' that was much more uptempo for the dancers with the large pupils
however it has now had lots of plays on the northern scene over the last few years and has gotten expensive,find it on c.d soul spectrum on bbe or on re-issued single released a year ago on goldmine sevens ask the guys in tibb street to give it a spin when youre next in :P

FORRRCE the double label jan release you mention i assume its JOBELLE AND THE ORCHESTRA DE SALSA i havnt played the other side for years and have it in my memory as a bit rock ish another ill look foreward to laying my hands on!

One and the same :D . It's not at all rocky, but does get tedious after a while. I always play the first 2 1/2 minutes only, which have a classic, jazz-funky sound - then they hit a noisy groove and don't let go for the rest of the track. It's too, too much - even for me... :roll:

My fav from Jeanie Tracy is "If this is love", she ALSO had another good one in the late 90's called "It's my time"

this is a funny one apart from the labels sells as a promo on e.bay for $$ but ive always believed it was released that way,this was imported here though in small quantities you had to be sharp.

another jeanie tracy record i have from the mid 90s is a duet with bobby womack :P 'its a mans mans mans world' yep the james brown song though you probibly wouldnt notice that on the dance mixes only the original mix
