| I've heard a few tracks from an old LP by Julio Iglesias LP ( :D Yup the spanish romantic love man  ) supposedly entitled "Begin The Beguine". Any idea of who produced this one? It really sounds like something Costandinos would do! |

| I'm quite surprised you like 'Begin The Beguine', K-Bee - it's very middle-of-the-road, not unlike Abba! It was a number one here.

| LOL...yes you arnt the only one...another colaberation coming soon.... Best track outta all these Julio disco tracks found is "Un Dia Tu, Un Dia Yo", it's Costandinos Love And Kisses/Sphinx meets Midney totaly..compleate with strings and electro synth backing and of corse...the lush vocals. Great stuff! I did some research into these and they are produced by some unknown guy that seems to have produced all of Julio's stuff. Just these gems are scattered throughout his 78, 79 and 81 LPs..put the various tracks together and you have one hella good eurodisco LP :D

| Jimmy, K-Bee, E_Funk: I'm seriously worried that your disco cred is beginning to disintegrate. When in Marbella in 1974, I used to do a Sunday afternoon/evening disco session for the local kids. Being part of Andalucia, traditional Spanish music was a must play, together with the more latin sounding disco hits and the then current Spanish hits that were danceable (many of which were pure club records). I made the mistake of playing a Julio Iglesias record once. Hell, in the record racks were loads of the damned things, so I thought he had to be worth a spin. What made it worse was that I consulted the Spanish kid who worked in the disco prior to playing it. He insisted that it would go down well. Yeah, the record was greeted by jeers, whistles, hisses and gawd knows what else. Apparently, Julio was considered the Spanish version of Cliff Richard (i.e. mums & dad's music - totally uncool). The Spanish kid had royally stitched me up!!!! I'm sorry to say that that image (and the humiliation I faced in playing that damned record) has stayed with me to this very day. Some things are deeply etched. BTW: Begin The Beguine was IMO diabolical!! |

| LOL Quinny  I didnt say I liked Julio now in general..its kinda like the Andy Williams and Johnny Mathis disco..the voice may be that unhip mom and dad music guy..but the music is damn great :D And K...that doesnt surprise me that you like R. Kelly  But I will say as for Cliff...I do like and always have the duet with Olivia Newton John from Xanadu..which BTW was a good ballad to play in the discos

| With Cliff it was all downhill after Move It. When he was a kid, he was a credible alternative to all the Yank rockers. However, if you've seen him in the likes of 'Expresso Bongo' and 'Summer Holiday' or worst of all 'The Cliff Richard Show' on TV, all his street cred disappeared. |
