| Manny, I partied in most of this clubs (305 ?, don't remember this one) plus Dj'ed in a few of them too. Limelight, was one of the best South Florida clubs ever, (located in the City of Hallandale) with a huge floor, elavorate light show, and massive sound system that could literaly blow off your shirt if to close to the speakers, Luis Martinez was Dj there, and I can still hear the "copacabana" mix between the spanish and english versions.. great stuff dispite what some may say now.... 'Disco 79' was very New york styled but didn't last long , later in '84 the owner opened "Infinity" in Miami Springs that gave "Casanovas" a run for the money! Scaramouche was a classy, flashy place located on the Omni's third floor with beautiful babes and elegant people, one of the first 'Lazer' shows I ever remember, in the Omni's first floor you could also find Alexanders with three floor of beautiful Decor and featuring an 'elevator' dance floor, this place used to 'Party " hard with private after hours parties right after closing! Pete&Lenny's was around for years and is legendery to the thousand of 'Spring Brakers" that flocked down south, one of the best cover bands ever played there (name ?), featuring my old Salsero friend "Arana" on congas!, and the 'Teen Disco" that opened next door (after the '83 remodeling) during the 'break' dance craze featured some of the best brake dancing I ever saw! Manhattan was around for years too, Billy Swann used to Dj there, this place was also modeled after New York style clubs with many levels and a very good sound and Video system(very new then), first place I ever saw mixing MTV videos off VHS tape, the VIP room was cool too, but getting your records up the narrow circle stairs was a bitch! 'Forrest' was across from Casanovas and was also a teen disco at first, later an R&B club. But Casanovas was the grandest of all, with Ciro Llerena and Carlos Nodal on the tables and weekly disco Artist live and fashion shows it had no rivals, I think it was around for almost 10 years.. ![]() |

| hey mixmachine, I'm sure we crossed paths for I too frequented these clubs, but I must admit that casanovas still holds a special place, I was friends with Paul the sound engineer and Billy at the front door, I met arana along time ago, and ciro I've known a long time. Did you ever meet Richard Quintero, he dj'd fridays at 1235 or how about Carlos Alvarez? regards, Manny P

| man, you are fast to reply, I'm still trying to re-size the link.. I used to go to 1235 too, I forgot about that one! Now that was a happenning club! and SoBe was hot in those days with Bolero's (Ciro spon here)Van Dome, Club NU but I don't remember Richard, some of this Dj's were part of the new generation wave and I never met some of them, I probably heard him play, cause Fridays was my favorite party night when not working, great music and mixes in that club! I think I may know Carlos Alvarez but I'm not sure after so many years. |

| I was too young then, but I hear "FIRE and ICE" and "Circle 8 (in 8th street)" were great disco joints! As far as Super Q is concerned, many great house djs of today played on Super Q back in the day (i.e. DJ Abel)... "THE COPA" in fort Lauderdale is still there, however the magic Im sure is gone... Club Z, 1235 and later (which I remember) Paragons was amazing!

| I loooooooove CELI BEE's Music!!!!! I know in the 80's to mid 80's she toured the local gay bar scene and vanished. Would love to see what she's doing now. Celi Bee was PR and married to Pepe Luis Soto (who wrote most of her material and others like RIce and beans orchestra for Celis label APA records on TK).
