| I'm not familiar with this. Besides being 'hard to find', is there something exceptional about the music that commands such a price or is this just collectors going at it again? |

| Hey, Nicky - It's a tuneful and moody, upbeat finger-snapper with a heavy bass-synth; and was selling for £30 in London, just 2 years after its release (1983). It was written and produced by Allen Felder and those guys. The lead vocalist is a dead-ringer for Teddy P., though marginally deeper and a little rawer. I was told it was Ebo of 'I'd Rather Be Myself' fame, though I never knowingly heard either Ebo's LP or 12"s from the middle '80s. Is it true that he replaced Teddy on his departure from the Blue Notes? It's appeared on a lot of American wants lists in the past couple of years, so international demand has skyrocketed. It's a Canadian-only release on Street Level. Your view may be tainted by the fuss it causes when you finally hear it, but it is a good quality record - and quite outstanding for its time. The jery rhythm may not be to disco lovers' tastes - and it was a big tune with the London reggae boys first time around, so it definitely ain't disco. But it's very soulful. |

| Forrrce, Thanks for that description. I used to pass up this record a lot over the years because it had a cover taken from the old Midsong 12"ers so I always thought it was some lame bootleg. Wish I had bought 'em.

| Actually, I don't have a copy. The pic and info were sent in by a visitor before the site makeover. Would love to hear it.

| Hypnotic appeared about 6 months ago on the latest Disco Strut LP - Vol 3. This will no doubt have added to the number of people who know about it and therefore want a copy. I'd recomend anyone who is interested in hearing this song that they get a copy of that compilation. The Disco Strut series are all nicely packaged double LPs, they are boots but a good quality ones. They all have other similiarly sought after big money 12"'s on them.

Is that for real? I've been looking for it since the mid 90s, as it reminds me of my youth. But...I don't want it THAT badly. In order to satisfy my curiosity...does anyone know how much a few of the other choonz on my wants list are fetching? Have look below: JUICY "Sugar Free" (12" PI) FIRST LOVE "Things Are Not The Same" (Ten 12") NORMA JEAN (LP Bearsville) JOCELYN BROWN "I Wish You Would" (Vinyl Dreams 12") EXTRA Ts "E.T." ( Sunnyview 12") UNIQUE "What I Got Is What You Need" ( Prelude 12") SHARON BROWN I Specialise In Love" (7" & 12") MAXINE NIGHTINGALE'S 1980 LP on RCA (sorry can't recall the name - It's got "Giving It All To You" on it :-?) SHEREE BROWN "It's A Pleasure" (7" Capitol) SERENADE "La La For Love" (7" Phoenix) MINNIE RIPPERTON "Loving You" (7" Epic) DR. BUZZARD'S ORIGINAL SAVANNAH BAND "Sunshower" (7" RCA) TWO MAN SOUND "Que Tal America" (7" Miracle) ASPHALT JUNGLE "Freakin Time" (7" TEC) Phew! Not asking too much am I? |

| Nothing strikes me as being oparticularly difficult to get hold of. Norma Jean...."Saturday" is a true disco classic and one of my favourites even if my 12 inch single is on ghastly red vinyl..!! |

| Gotta disagree with ya. I know for a fact that the First Love single, and the Maxine Nightingale LP are both quite rare. Maybe they're not selling for big bucks, but they're certainly hard to find pieces of vinyl. |

| I've got that First Love track on a double compilation LP from '85 on 10 Records called 'Turn It Up'. It contains some great mid 80s tracks such as Aurra's 'Like I Like It', The Affair's 'Please Don't Break My Heart', Sasss's 'City Life', Gloria D.Brown's 'The More They Knock...' & Little Benny's 'Who Comes To Boogie'. I'm sure I've seen it in 2nd hand record shops if it doesn't have to be the original you want.

| Little Benny's 'Who Comes To Boogie'? Whoa!!! Whatever happened to the great sound of Go Go? It's never had a revival the way other music forms have. |

| [quote="Karlos"]Nothing strikes me as being particularly difficult to get hold of. quote] Not if you have enough money, I suppose. But nowadays you won't find records like Hypnotic cheap, unless you are very very lucky. It is a very rare record, but if you've got $500/600 to spare then, yes it is easy enough to find. IMO spending big bucks on rare 12" is a boring way to collect music.

| Leatherman, I wasn't referring to Hipnotic as being particularly difficult to get hold of although obviously it is or isn't if you have enough $$. I agree that $600 is way to much to spend on one record. I was referring to a previous poster's wants list when I said nothing appears to be too difficult to obtain, although since then I've been corrected by someone who knows better than I do (not too difficult as that counts for most people) who said that actually 1 or 2 of the items were quite hard to obtain. |
