| Hello Again! I'm quite a fan of very early disco music...As I consider 1974/1975 as the era of "early disco" , I remember one of my very favorite songs to dance to was: "Let's Do The Latin Hustle" by the Young Sisters...Does anyone else remember this song? I remember hearing it only on radio stations from Mexico...It had a really catchy beat right from the very beginning...Did any US stations carry this song? I also remember having a hard time finding that song on a 45. Also, has anyone found this "dusty disco record" on some compilation CD? Thanks...Mario |

| Hi Mario: Don't know the Young Sisters version, but Eddie Drennon & BBS Unlimited had a hit in the UK with 'Let's Do The Latin Hustle' (I'm presuming it was a cover of the Young Sisters as this was in '76). |

| Actually, Eddie Drennon's version - absolutely gorgeous - was a 1975 release originally, though it became a #20 Pop hit in Britain in March of the following year and kept getting pressed then as a 7" single. The Young Sisters version appears to be 1976 and a remake. The Eddie Drennon one is the original. It's so sad that almost no one these days has heard that incredible song, and it's not on CD, when everyone knows trash like "Knock on Wood", and the only "hustle" song most people know is Van McCoy's or, if they're lucky, the "Salsoul Hustle". Did you notice that the popular disco compilations always exclude British hits that didn't also become American hits, as if Britain's taste in music doesn't count. Think Patrick Juvet, Liquid Gold, Average White Band's "Let's Go 'Round Again" - all top 20 in Britain. "Let's Do the Latin Hustle" WAS mainstream - just on the wrong side of the Atlantic. Versions of "Let's Do the Latin Hustle" were also released by M. and O. Band (1976, #16 UK Pop), the Disco Hustlers (year?), and Year of the Dragon (1976). |

| Eddie Drennons' "The Latin Hustle " was a very popular song in Miami's clubs in '75, '76 , Dancer's used to do the 'Bus Stop' to it, I don't remember if it ever played local radio. There is a 12" version remixed by Tom Moulton that presumably combines both sides of the 7". I don't have this copy (only a label scan) so I can't check for sure. |

| Wow, guys! You had me worried there for a while.. :o Did I just "dream" that there was a song entitled The Latin Hustle by The Young Sisters??? I had to go into my cardboard boxes down in the basement and dig that out and lo and behold "I FOUND IT"!!! And it was 1975!!!! Not 1976. A Side: The Latin Hustle by The Young Sisters B Side: Latin With The Sisters Phillips Distributed by Mercury Records40803 (Blue Label White Lettering) Produced by Nigel Grainge & Cees Wessels The song is pretty much an instrumental with a lot of the use of the flute. It has a great driving hypnotic disco beat! Thanks for your responses, though! Take Care...Mario |

If this is the same Nigel Grainge, he'd later run Ensign Records in the UK with Chris Hill. |

Did you also get the followup boxed set: "60 More Classic Dance Hits of the 70s"? (They weren't very original with their titles in those days.) |

"Let's Do The Latin Hustle" by The Young Sisters!!! I was wrong with the song title earlier! As I stated before, I used to hear this song on radio stations piping in over the A.M. airwaves from Mexico back in 1975. I bought the 45 in El Paso. Let's Do The Latin Hustle was also played on a local disco dance show back then. It has always been one of my very favorite disco records! And yes, the name Nigel Grainge is on the record label. The Young Sisters version of this song must have been a regional hit along the border, I guess...Take Care...And thanks for setting me straight! |

| If it's from the site I think you may have bought it from, I'm surprised Bernie isn't linked to it, as they have some great stuff. $11.99 is a good price. |

| I spent some time earlier this fall with someone trying to remember/recapture the dance steps of the Latin Hustle. We were not terribly successful - too many years have passed between then and now. :( |
