| In 1977 Jodie Foster had a film out in France called ”Moi Fleur Bleue” and Carrere put out the disco-flavoured soundtrack composed by one Francois D’Aime. Jodie delivers the ballad ”When I Looked At Your Face”. She doesn't sound too good. On the front sleeve the teenager is dressed like a boy and on the flip she looks like Marty Feldman with eyes looking into opposite directions. Did Jodie undergo some sort of eye operation before blossoming into full stardom? Luckily Scherrie Payne is the vocalist on the other tracks. ”Fly – Version Intégrale” is nothing special but ”La Conga” is great, like a mating of Roni Griffith’s ”Best Part Of Breaking Up” and Van McCoy’s ”Soul Cha Cha”. Apart from ”La Conga” I’ve been listening and looking at Playgroup’s ”Number One”, heavy rotation on MTV. This track has the best video with a square box gradually metamorphosing into a Munich Machine-style robot which then performs a series of classic dance routines, from the John Travolta/Saturday Night Fever strut to Michael Jackson’s moonwalk to breakdancing. The CG images are stunning and the music is not bad either. |
