Svend,

"GOT TO GET YOU BACK" is just a gem. I had totally forgotten this song--until my copies of the old Billboard Disco charts arrived a few years back. Then I saw that title and totally remembered the chorus. Through the very kind & generous efforts of Discodisk, I obtained a British compilation with that track on it. I put it on a tape between Patti Jo's "Make Me Believe In You" and Ace Spectrum's "Don't Send Nobody Else" and it was played over and over and over in my car and it's a definite keeper. :D

Another song that just instantly "came back" to me when I played the Super Rare Disco" compilation was "I'll Be Holding On" by Al Downing......all of a sudden I was back at Buzzbys in SF dancing to this tune--that had been forgotten for all these years.

MARKY i know you really love this record, im not sure if i mentioned this before but a LONG DISCO MIX of sons of robin stone exists on acetate :o ive heard it and i actually have it on tape the problem is its unlabeled and since most of the 1000s of tapes ive made for the car over the years are also unlabeled it causes me a BIG problem :(
i actually saw the guy that owns it in an all night club in manchester a couple of years ago and was going to go and talk to him and pursuade him to do something with it.he was d.jing so i thought id catch him when hed finished but i couldnt find him :o the sad thing was that whilst in the states he was digging for unreleased 60s stuff and although he must be pleased to have found it i think it was quite low down on his llist of 'finds'
sorry marky just trying to ruin your day  mission accomplished ill bet

its fantasic BTW

This is great. There are about 50 unique entries so far (about 2 CD's  ). What I am struggling with now is the name for the CD's. How about DiscoMusic.com - Virtually There 1974? Sad thing is, it won't ever be heard by anyone but myself

Hope to start the 1975 list on Sunday.
Thanks to all!

My top 10 of 1974 are (these aren't in order):

1 - Rufus & Chaka Khan - Once You Get Started
2 - Gloria Gaynor - Never Can Say Goodbye
3 - LTD - You Can Be Free
4 - Temptations - Happy People
5 - Commodores - Machine Gun
6 - Kay Gees - You Gotta Keep On Bumpin'
7 - KC & The Sunshine Band - All My Love
8 - Miami - Party Freaks
9 - Ultrafunk - Kung Fu Man
10 - Barrabas - Hi Jack

I've got a lot of favourites from that year and those are some. I would of included "TSOP" by MFSB and "Who Is He & What Is He To You" by Creative Source but they were recorded 1973 so my list is what was recorded in 1974.

Here is a list of slower but funky jam favourites from that year too:

1 - William DeVaughan - Be Thankful For What You Got
2 - Barrabas - Mellow Blow
3 - Blackbyrds - Spaced Out
