I've given up on radio.
I download podcasts onto my computer and mp3 player.
I listen with headphones or in the car or at home, anywhere anytime
- 'radioshows' that I can pause rewind skip....

My favourite podcast features snippets of jazz funk soul disco & smooth
jazz with other bits thrown in for fun & lots of oldies! Its called the smooth groovers review ( http://smoothgroovers.blogspot.com ).
The show comes out every two weeks, 20 have been made so far.

Two years back we turned around our local radio station to BeatFM playing soul, funk & disco only. Being public means some lost hours of info but in between, roughly from 11 pm to 7 am (CET), we play danceclassics for the north-western part of The Netherlands (FM 106.3) as well as on the web.

Have a try: Your classic dance and disco music station.

When it came down to it I narrowed my options to either country, disco or pop and ended up going the more smooth, mellow, easy listening sort of pop music. My station's at Online Adult Contemporary Radio Station - Live365 Internet Radio - smoothplay radio and for now I'm just testing the airwaves to see what sort of response, feedback I get. I'm thinking after a few months if all goes well I'm going to launch a disco station.

As to radio on the whole, well here in Vancouver I think we've got the world's worst radio stations. Nothing but dull boring stations, featuring the same old DJ's they've featured for the past 20-plus years, playing the same old crap. I got so sick of the endless babbling from the DJ's and the endless commercials and this was all on FM stations. There really isn't much of a choice here for a city the size of Vancouver. I got so bored with radio on the whole that I gave up on it several years back and now only listen to what I want to listen to on CD's, internet radio, my iPod etc.
