1. Please people, this album is not "ultra-rare". Despite what you may have read on the 'net, there are at least several hundred copies in existence, possibly a few thousand. Carr's claim that only "5 or 6" copies were made are complete BS, as I know there to be more than that just among our members here. Even if the album didn't sell more than a dozen copies, Casablanca would've pressed up heaps of promos. There are two known different editions of this as well, so it's not like it disappeared overnight.

2. The only reason it's hard to find at all is because of the Eric Carr connection, with rabid KISS fans snapping up every copy, each thinking that they've got one of only 5 in existence.

3. It is actually a decent album. Not a lost masterpiece, but definitely worth getting if you find it for a reasonable price. The two best tracks from it are also on the promo 12", which isn't any harder to find than any other Casablanca DJ 12".

I never have even found one to this date..but I know there was way more than 5 or 6 copies made LOL. I have a recording of the LP someone made me a while ago and had no clue this could even be Kiss related. I actualy heard a rumor that Greg Diamond was involved but never had that confirmed. It is a great LP though!

Actually, I thought I recall reading somewhere that it was Eric Carr who appeared on a Bionic Boogie track (Big West?).

It wasn't at the time. Carr didn't join KISS until the 80s.

Nope. Carr and his bandmates toured as Bionic Boogie during the 70s though, although they had little to do with the actual recordings. And as Bernie mentioned, Carr plays on one of the Bionic Boogie tracks.

Im gonna have to pull out the Bionic Boogie LP and listen to "Big West" again, which is actualy my fave song on the LP!

I'm actually a KISS fan!! Never had a clue, but the Lightning album is one those records I have in storage (one listen and no interest).

I knew that VINNIE VINCENT (Who played on the Creatures of the Night LP) played on the DAN HARTMAN LP of INSTANT REPLY..

What Album is BIG WEST on?

Big West is on the 1st Bionic Boogie LP w/ "Risky Changes". It's the last track on the LP. Great instrumental disco tune.

If copies of "Lightning" float around stores here in Finland the title cannot be too rare...:-)

Girls with guns on rollerskates - one of the best sleeve images in all of discodom on that album in any case.

We had this discussion on "The most difficult record to find" thread.
Here is what I submitted at that time.

"I came across some rather interesting information while surfing the net for info on Bionic Boogie.Eric Carr the late drummer for Kiss was formerly the drummer for a disco band known as Mother Nature/Father Time in the New Jersey area.He played under his given name as Paul Caravello.Mother Nature/Father Time was the band that performed as
Bionic Boogie since Gregg Diamond's Bionic Boogie were studio musicians and he needed someone to perform and promote Bionic Boogie on the road. Here is where it gets interesting in late 1979 Mother Nature/Father Time recorded an album for Casablanca Records under the name of Lightning and released it as a promo Lp with a 12" promo also however the release was minimal as the band broke up after recording it and Casablanca did not have anyone to promote the recording in a live venue."

Thanks,very informative !!!
The disco drummer Gary Dunn said Luther Vandross really sang in Bionic Boogie concerts in May of 1979 and Bionic Boogie opened for GQ.
