Default Very Rare Costandinos Gem Found..Any Vinyl Info Anyone?

Voyage from this forum found an ultra rare Alec Costandinos gem today on soulseek. A 45 of the track Trocadero Lemon Blue sung in French and also it's a different more powerful mix musicly. On the B side is an unavalible anywhere else ballad called "Ne Me Regarde Pas" also sung in French. Does anyone have vinyl release info? As to what label and also, is there an all French version of the Trocadero LP floating around out there?

Hi Jimmy,

I saw this on GEMM:

Shake - Trocadero Bleu Citron

The 'B' side is "Ne Me Regarde Pas". Different group but it may lead you in the right direction. The label is Carrere.

Hmm, ya know what? That very well could be it..cause I told Voyage after I got it that the music and everything is Costandinos (on both sides A & B) and has a remixed Trocadero Lemon Blue with the French vocals and even the famous Birds Of Paris in backing vocals on both tracks.. but the voice only sounds like Alec at times..maybe this was another Costandinos alias/side project? And if so is there an LP..

Well Jimmy remember that when I told you first about the french track that I thought it was Alec and then we listened to it closely and his voice sounded different I even said it could be Charles Aznavour or Joe Dassin lol Trocadero Bleu Citron in french in magnifique trés fantastique. Je suis :D

Au revoir mon amis 8)

Sounds like the version on the international version of the LP.

The only difference is this one song; all others are identical and in English. I think only the USA version has "Trocadero Lemon Blue" in English. The Canadian version (on RCA) and presumably the European version has the French version (titled "Trocadero Citron Bleu"), with the different mix.

I'm in Canada but have only ever found US copies of this album. Bernie's in the USA, but has a Canadian copy. Go figure. :D

I have the 45" in question.
"Trocadéro Bleu Citron" by shake,

Side A is the theme:

TROCADERO BLEU CITRON (3"45)
(J. Barnel, P. Sevran, Alec)
Arrt. and Dir. of the orchestra by Ray Knehnetsky, studios TRIDENT and CBE: B. Estrady

Side B is:

NE ME REGARDE PAS (4"12)
(M. Jouveaux, D. Vezolles, Alec)
Arr. and Dir. of the orchestra by Raymond Donnez, studio CBE: B. Estrady

It is distributed by CARRERE and produced by IS ORLANDO RECORDS in 1978. There is also the adress of the fan club of Shake if you want to write to him (Françoise Viemont, 10 rue Damrémont, 75018 Paris).
The interressant fact is that P. Sevran is credited on the first Song. I'm not totally sure if it' s him, but Pascal Sevran is a real star in France, he does a show on the french TV for old people every day. Everybody knows him.

"troca trocadéro, roule roule bleu citron,
oh dis moi ton prenom, on va monter sur la tour effeil, décrocher le soleil et peindre un arc en ciel pour nous deux"

Alec was for sure involved in the theme. We can easily recognize his touch on the instrumental part. By the way, he is credited on the sleeve under the title (J. Barnel, P. Sevran, Alec). Shake is the singer.

About the lyrics, here we are:

Troca, trocadéro, jusqu'a l'horizon,
et rien ne pourra nous arreter,
tu verras comme c'est chouette de planer sur des skates tous les deux!

Ils ont dans les yeux les couleurs de la vie,
Ils sont simplement des enfants d'aujourd'hui!

skate, troca, skate, troca, trocadeeeerrrrrrrrrooooooooooooooooooooo"

Yup that is defenatly the 45 in question, there was a sound sample on that link if ya click the 45 cover. Musicly it was the same music track Alec used accept just remixed slightly different...and the unmistakable Birds Of Paris on backing vocals on both sides. The arranger Raymond K. is the same guy from the LP and has also worked with Costandinos on the Paris Connection LP. Now..Grahm mentioned there is on every pressing of the soundtrack accept the USA a version sung by Alec in French? Or does the Shake vocal version appear on the rest of em? Thank you for the info on this.

Merci beaucoup Tdaram for the lyrics. They're trés cool. Do you know any good disco songs sung in francais?

What do you think of Regine's (La Reine Du La Discotheque Pariseine) cover of I Will Survive.

Tu ami,
Voyage :P

Pardon moi for my not so perfect francais.

Well, theres the 1984 track "Albator '84" by Frank Oliver (written and produced by Alec), kind of an 80s sounding dance/pop track. There's "Dream Disco" by Max Berlins (Cerron'e brother and produced and written by Cerrone) but thats not singing, just a kid and a guy talking in French through it. Then theres "Je' Tame" by St. Tropez which is kina the same thing with talking, then theres the Donna Summer version of "Je' Tame" which is talking and sung in French (and also includes an uncredited Alec R Costandinos as the male voice on that one). For disco music thats about all I can think of. For rock theres the ultra rare French version of "Heroes" by David Bowie called "H'ero" or something like that LOL

I will survive by Regine is funny and a king of glamour but I prefer far away the version of gloria gaynor.

Maybe you will like some tracks by Claude François sung in french like "Alexandrie Alexandra" with a really great disco instru.
