Default Danny Krivit CD let down

I recently bought a compilation CD of 'edits' by this DJ mainly as it contained a track by Caress (I'm having trouble finding the Oz Cds of Boris's original stuff) & was amazed to find the track was 11 minutes of virtually the same loop repeated over & over with none of the song structure left intact. No offence to the DJs on the site but don't you get fed up with remixers & DJs messing about with classic music & then making a large profit out of it? (& ripping off unsuspecting people like me  ). I wish a preservation order could be put on records like the ones put on listed buildings.

I agree/disagree  with you.

Too much remixing is obviously boring and useless, but you bought a cd especially made with edits, abd so you have to expect not to find intact original versions !
Mr Krivit has made his name for these edits, that are reported to be made long time ago.
By the way, I don't think these edits are really of the disco era. They seem to me recently made just to jump on the "disco re-editing" bandwagon. Furthermore, the one you are talking about is probably the less interesting of the whole cd. On the other hand, I find very beautiful the Lenny Williams drumbreak edit of "Runnin'".

In any case you don't know a track you better download it from the net before buying it

No offence taken .I do sympathize with you.I tend to think that ego's have a lot to do with this. It's as if the DJ hears the original and thinks he can create a better vibe or hook to the song based on remixing it to his liking or the crowd he works with.I have heard some garbage remixes but I have also heard some brilliant remixes. It's an individual choice or preference. It reminds me sort of like radio or TV where people will complain vehemently over program content but the solution is simple if you don't like it switch the channel.Don't forget that original tunes are all covered by copyright and someone has allowed the remixer to change it.

I remember when I bought this I told my friend Art that, at first, I was really bored with what he did to Caress. Then one day I played it LOUD and gave it a real good listen while envisioning a "12 West" dancefloor.

Danny's edits on this song are subtle, but it's not the same loop repeated over and over. He's catching the song in different passages creating different phrases, similar to the way he worked the breaks on "Bra" and "Runnin'" . It sounds tedious when you're sitting back in your living room listening as it comes off as a pounding 4/4 for 11 minutes and no shifts. I think the effect would be vastly different on the dancefloor. Still, I agree with Giovanni that it is the least interesting of the work on the CD but I've grown to like it.

My fave: His weird interpretation of "Ask Me". 8)
2nd disappointment: The lack of work put into "I Can't Stop Talking"/"Koke" by Genie Brown/Tribe. I was really looking forward to this and it's basically a 'straight pass' mix effort with a looped ending on "Koke". :x

It is all about opinions but often I think Krivit (or whomever the editer is) gets far too much credit. Most of the time it is subtle changes and many of todays audience don't know what the original sounds like anyway.
