Hello everybody!!

I am new on this (new) board, although I have previously posted one or two messages in the old board (near its tail-end).

Although Graham Start (Bruce) has already answered me this, I will pop the question again, because maybe someone can complete or update my and Bruce's EL COCO Discography.

So the question is: Does anybody know EL COCO complete discography?? (12" and albums).

Bruce, MONDO DISCO is ready. I am terribly busy but I'll e-mail as soon as I have time.

Jussi, if you're listening, Alan told me you could help me on EL COCO discography.

My e-mail is jason66@ig.com.br and everybody in this site is invited to write.

I live in Brazil, so please forgive any English mistakes.

Thank you very much and take care.

Paulo

Sorry but cannot really help you much here! I've never seen a complete discography of the Rinder/Lewis team, much as I would love to!

Thanks anyway Jussi!

Yes, it is really hard to get their discography. Even in the interview with Laurin Rinder in this site, he doesn't mention everything. He has ommited some of the later albums. I have more then those he listed. Anyway... Bruce has helped me on that, he really has a very complete Rinder and Lewis discography.

Thank you very much

Bye

Paulo

Paolo -

Here's what I got - there's probably more as f.ex. I got a 12" called LOVE EXCITER out in 1979 - was there ever an album out that year?

MONDO DISCO - 75

BRAZIL - 75

LET'S GET IT TOGETHER - 76

COCOMOTION - 77

DANCING IN PARADISE - 78

REVOLUCION -80

The break from Delicado off the Brazil lp was recycled into Hot disco night by Sweet potato pie, out commercially in 78. As you know, some 12-inchers are slightly different from the lp versions and have superior sound q. to the often crappy AVI lp printings. There are also a couple of special versions combining Coco and Le pamplemousse material, one such seques nicely from Let's get It Together into Get Your Boom Boom.

Here is another album:

El Coco - El Coco - AVI '82 (or '83)

I have only seen this once and I don't know if it was ever officialy released. If anyone can tell me more about this album or where to get it, I would appreciate it.

It was officially released, but it went straight to the cutout bins. One track from it is on the 'Greatest Disco Hits' compilation. But it's not really a Rinder & Lewis album. By this point, they were fed up with the music industry and focusing their efforts on soundtracks, so they basically outsourced it. Like most of their post-1980 material, it sounds like Contractual Obligation.

It's certainly an obscure LP. I first came across it in 1990 and didn't really like it, so I recommended (and sold) it to a sound system DJ on the strength of the mid-tempo soul track, 'One Step Back From Love'. It became big with the mid-tempo soul crowd and I didn't see another copy 'til 2 years ago. I got it again to see if I'd missed anything, but I hadn't.

It seems that there is a 1983 album called COLLECTABLES on AVI Records, but I have never found it.

Does anyone know anything about this obscure release?

"I'm Ready" is a reworking of Dave Williams "Come On Down, Boogie People" which was originally produced by Rinder & Lewis.

I have to wonder if "Cheetah" is a play on words as in "Cheater", given that all of the backing tracks are recycled material with new vocals.

This AVI (US) 12" single of "Cocomotion" (10:30 long) issueed in 1977 (Pro -12-6012) also has "I'm mad as hell" on side B, 7:54 long, I think this is a promo only but not 100 % sure.

Or maybe it is a Canadian version?? I see one for sale in Gemm , the seller claims it is an AVI Canadian copy. How the seller knows is behond me, since my copy with the same cat # doesn't show any country of origin markings, maybe the sleeve had this info??, (my copy is on a replacement genetic sleeve) in any case the label is the colorful one, I found a different label scan to this "Mad as hell"
issue with the colorful label and 'Sunset blvd, LA, California' on the label.

Excellent point!

"Cheetah" also reeks of C.O.!....
