| here's some of them: P.O.D. - Alive Blink 182 - Rockshow Sum 42 - Makes No Difference Blues Traveller - Runaround Dishwala - Counting Blue Cars. I wouldn't say these song represent "the real me" but i like them even though they're pretty far removed from what I normally listen to. So what's yours?? :) |

| :( Damn You K-Bee! I'll be that laughing stock of Discomusic.com! LOL. Here's my Top 5 (and yes I am ashamed! haha) : 1) WHY NOT by Hilary Duff - What can I say? LOL. For all her lack of musical talent she's still a gorgeous piece of teenaged ass! And this is a catchy tune. 2) AFTERNOON DELIGHT by Starland Vocal Band - Hey!, It's a catchy tune! 3) LOVE IS THICKER THAN WATER by Andy Gibb - This is corny but it's a really good song. 4) GYPSIES, TRAMPS AND THIEVES by Cher - I can't believe I'm admitting this! LMAO! 5) TOTAL ECLIPSE OF THE HEART by Bonnie Tyler - Listen Brighteyes!, I know that I'm not the only one who likes this song! LOL. Good corny fun! :D |

| Tracks that I like but feel embarrassed about include 'Running Up That Hill' - Kate Bush, 'Chemistry' - The Nolans, 'Big Time' - Peter Gabriel, 'Take Me Im Yours' - Squeeze, 'Video Killed The Radio Star' - The Buggles, 'Venus As A Boy' - Bjork, 'Fantasy Island' - Tight Fit & 'Bridge To Your Heart' - Wax. There, I've got that out in the open & I now feel cleansed. :-?

| Forrrce: Do I sniff a hip new record with Lieutenant Pigeon buried in it, somewhere, hence the retro glance? Tell me that this tune hasn't already been digitised and sampled. If you really want a list of music I'm ashamed of and I like................... don't think there is any. However, I'm truly ashamed of an awful lotta stuff from the '60s, 'cos it all sounds soooooo dated now and I'm increasingly not liking most of it. What really erks me is the rose tinted spectacles that my contemporaries put on whenever they talk about the music from the era. I try to live for today and tomorrow and absolutely detest the 'nudge, nudge, wink, wink, that was real music' attitude, that most people of a certain age tend to adopt. There's a radio programme called 'Sounds of the Sixties' that I'm forced to listen to every Saturday morning, 'cos my wife likes to listen to it. What was once a reasonably good idea has now become a show for know all freaks. There's the most bizarre, obscure CRAP played on occasions, that makes me wonder why anyone would ever or could ever admit to liking it. At times, it's a show for the truly diabolical!!!!!! However, it's from the '60s soooo it has to be good!! Some of the songs I still dig (hip, dated word) would be things like: The Who - Sustitute, I Can See For Miles, (the Who were one of my fave bands. 'Miles' was THE Who record that got away. I remember seeing them on TOTP 3 weeks in a row and it still only peaked at #11. Any other record would have been at #1 or #2 with sooo much exposure. Guess other people just didn't like it?)) Jimi Hendrix - Purple Haze, (this is the track that turned me onto Hendrix big time) The Misunderstood - Children Of The Sun, (this has manic feedback guitar that simulates what sex feels like or when you get to that state over something and you have to shout out F*** it. It's such a release) The Animals - Don't Bring Me Down, (moody, atmospheric record that gave me a special, special feeling) Spencer Davis Group - Keep On Runnin', I'm A Man, (a classmate and I used to drive the Art teacher nuts by singing these tunes during Art lessons.) Sam & Dave - Soul Man ( What an intro!!! This track has so much BALLS for a soul record. When so many others of the genre were sweet, sophisticated and pretty tame, this slammed hard and told it like it is. Gutsy, life affirming music that still makes me feel warm inside) Skatalites - Guns Of Navarone (infectious, shambolic Ska music that typifies the genre for me. It was like disco in some ways, in that it was the dance music of its day, it borrowed a lot of tunes and made them 'hits', there were real instruments, people jumped on the bandwagon and wrecked it) and.....two just out of the '60s Neil Young - Heart Of Gold/Crazy Horse - Cinnamon Girl - I just loved Neil Young's incredibly plaintive voice and in Cinnamon Girl the simple tough guitars) There's countless others of course, but these came to my feeble brain this morning. Can I be excused now? |

I'm a bit of a bubblegummer at heart, Quinny, being a '60s conception. I've also flushed any credibility I may have had straight down the kaze. :o |
