| OK... This is been bugging me for a while now. I recently bought the re-issue of the Love Committee 12" Just as long as I got you (Original Walter Gibbons 12" Mix - 8m37s) b/w Law & Order (Original Tom Moulton 12" mix - 8m42s). And I thought "gotcha" because ever since buying Francois Kevorkian's mix CD "Essential Mix" (London Records 19 Ltd, 2000) I fell in love with the mostly instrumental version of "Law & Order". FK credited this remix to Walter Gibbons, and he wrote in the credits (quote): Walter was always very experimental. He was trying to wean himself completely away from the classic song structure, to explore what it was like to put these break-downs and strange parts together to make it a much more eventful kind of journey. I think in those early days there seemed to be much more room for experimentation. End Quote. However: The Tom Moulton "Law and order" remix is actually exactly the track that FK credits to Walter Gibbons... but what FK played is the instrumental version of Tom Moulton"s remix. So... the big question is: Is FK mixing up his remixers... or did Walter Gibbons remix a mostly instrumental version from Tom Moulton's remix... Help :o |

| Maarten, last night I added another Love Committee 12" to the Disco Records databse. Both copies of the original Walter Gibbons remixes (1 white label promo, the other a commercial release with Just As Long As I Got You on the flip) sound alike. They start off with a nice instrumental buildup with Spanish sounding guitars and even a little flange effect, but then it goes into a full vocal version. Check the two entries to compare the timing... Law and Order b/w Just As Long As I Got You (12") Law and Order (Walter Gibbons Remix - White Label Promo) (12")

| Bernie - I finally found the time to look this up. These might be the remixes... but I can not tell from the timing nor the description. What I do know is... (1) Francois K's Essential Mix CD contains a 98% instrumental remix of Law & Order credited to Walter Gibbons. (2) This instrumental version is virtually the same as the Tom Moulton remix of Law & Order on the reissued 12" on SUSS'D records UK. But... Tom's remix is a vocal version. So... did Walter G create an instrumental remix of Tom Moulton's remix? I guess the only way to tell if one of the two 12 inchers you list is the one on Francois Kevorkian's CD is to listen

| I just bought the "Mixed with love" Walter Gibbons Salsoul compilation. And there it is, the version I described in in 2003... with an explanation of this mystery in the very worthwhile booklet. On the second CD I found the version that Francois K uses in his compilation. Francois K was right: this version is a Walter Gibbons remix of Tom Moulton's remix... PS Hello everybody. Moved to the US (again). When you're in Atlanta feel free to drop me a note... |

| Dimitri from Paris on his "My Salsoul" mix CD features a short portion (3:21)of this original Walton Gibbons mix that according to the liner notes was originally released on the flip of the "Just as long as I got you" 12". |

| Yes, Francois K and Dimitri used only part of the track. The booklet mentions the 12" is 9min35. It starts with vocals over minimal (stripped) acoustic guitars and base, drums... and then goes into the very very lush instrumental with the organ playing a key role... it almost feels like a Meco track. Walter was a genius. And this track alone makes the 3 disc set worth buying. |

| Maarten, as a matter of fact Tom Moulton never did a remix, since he did the original mix. |

| You guys, The Walter Gibbons Anthology "Mixed With Love" Amazon-U.S. | Amazon-U.K. | Amazon-Germany | Amazon-France is outstanding, I bought it along with the "Salsoul 30th" Amazon-U.S. | Amazon-U.K. | Amazon-Germany | Amazon-France 2cd set last year and fell in love with Salsoul! Especially noteworthy (since all other classic tracks end up on the respective artists' anthologies or the Salsoul 12" master cds) are the very extended "Super Queen" and "Stand By Your Man" which are what I love best about extended versions, check them out guys!!! |
