| I recently got this album in the mail and I love it, especially Side A. This is the original 1976 copy, on the OASIS label (Casablanca subsidiary). The "Knights" medley is really great; the end of the song where the melody changes and sticks with it to the very end was a surprise. How towards the ending it sounded like it was going to end, but then you hear the drums going and it's gives you more. Side B is okay but "I Wanna Funk With You Tonight" is another great song (and the standout on Side B).

| Recently, I went to a record shop in midtown looking for some classic mixes and I saw Giorgio's "KNIGHTS IN WHITE SATIN" LP for $30.00. The album wasn't old nor fresh but in between. I didn't buy it because my turn-table isn't working. "KIWS" reminds me of Donna Summer's "TRY ME". It starts off as one song then flows into a another than ending in its original format (almost like three songs in one). Then again both songs have the same label (Casablanca) and Giorgio's name is on the both of them. *DISCO DELIGHT* |

$30.00 for Knights In White Satin?! That must've been at Rose's, right? They have some good stuff, but they're soooo overpriced. If you buy from there, make sure it's something you can't get anywhere else. KIWS is a good album and all, but it's not rare... don't pay more than $10 for it unless it's in perfect shape. However, should you come across Moroder's "Einzelganger" LP, grab it... it's quite hard to find. I haven't heard it yet, I'm told it's his first foray into electronics. |

| I also love the LP"Knights In White Satin" especially the sleazy "I Wanna Funk With You Tonite". But I never heard of the Album "Einzelgänger"...is it Disco? and when was it released? Another question: The 7" from GIORGIO called "Let The Music Play"(1977) has been released as 12"? Cosmic Love & Kisses From SIRIUS & DARKTUNES |

| Giorgio's moody LET THE MUSIC PLAY 7" from 1977 is in the same groove as the KNIGHTS..album, could have been recorded during the same session. Check the 7" out if you like the sound. |

| OK, here is a dumb Giorgio question. Wasn't he involved, as one of his first projects, or possibly as a band member, in the Chicory Tip song "Son of my father"? I seem to remember this factoid from my radio days. I think this song is from 1972 (when I was a mere 11 years old...). And how about "Popcorn" which existed in about umpteen versions? _________________ "ON THE BEAT" [ This Message was edited by: maarten on 2002-04-12 02:24 ] |

| I think, "Son Of My Father" is from GIORGIO but he also produced CHICORY TIP. There´s also an album released 1972 called "Son Of My Father" and sounds like BubbleGum PsychedelicMoogPop. O.K.: I found something... 1)MOODY TRUDY/STOP(7"/1971) 2)GIORGIO"Son Of My Father"/"I´m Free Now" (1972) 3)TODAY´S A TOMORROW/PAULINE(1972) 4)CHICORY TIP"Cigarettes, Women And Wine" (7"/1973) But this stuff is more enjoyable for Glam- RockParties!!! It was Rose's indeed Graham. If my turn table was working, I would've bought it for $30.00 not knowing that I shouldn't pay that much. Do you think anyone would sell KIWS for $10.00? Rose's also had "From Here To Eternity" Lp for about the same price. I've never heard of "Einzelganger" but if I see it I'll grab it (if its not too expensive). *DISCO DELIGHT* |

| I'm not an expert on $$ for disco LP's, but I bought KIWS for about $14.00. It's in very good condition and I have no complaints, although the last song "I Wanna Funk With You Tonight" sounds a bit muffled. Was that common when vinyl was around; that the last song on an album sounded a little "different" than the others??

Yes, particularly with albums that are cut loud... like most disco ones! WARNING: Long and quasi-technical explanation follows. Read at risk of boredom. The amount of high-frequency signal that you can squeeze into vinyl decreases substantially as the groove gets closer to the centre of the disc, and the velocity of the groove gets lower and lower. The track arrangements on albums are often done with this in mind, so that the quietest songs are at the end (the *real* reason why so many LPs end with a ballad on each side!). But in many cases, this isn't an option. So, the mastering engineer has to either lower the overall volume of the track, or lower the treble, or worse yet, do nothing, which will result in horrible distortion. Actually, you may still get distortion if you have a lower-end stylus... this is where you'll hear the most benefit if you spend the extra bucks. The exact settings vary per disc, but the general rule seems to be to boost the frequencies from 10kHz on up by about 2 - 4 dB to compensate. Some albums do this on a track-by-track basis, others gradually do it over the course of a side (usually the case with side-long tracks). A quick way to check is to play the beginning of the track and quickly move towards the end, and note the change in EQ, if any. Of course, if the album is long and/or cut at a low level, or each side has two inches of space in the run-out groove, than chances are good that there has been no significant treble cut. _________________ Every dog needs a master. [ This Message was edited by: Graham Start on 2002-04-14 22:37 ] |

| A 12" of "Let The Music Play" - apparently not. A shame as it's an awesome track. |

Well, I've come across three copies in my time, all for about $5 Canadian. I actually had a US copy but foolishly gave it away a couple of years ago... that was before I started doing audio restoration, where getting the version with the best mastering is important. Anyway, "From Here To Eternity" is an awesome album, probably his best overall. However, it sold in large numbers back in the day, and it's been reissued on CD in Europe -- so again, I wouldn't pay more than $10 US for it unless it was in flawless condition. Rose's seems to charge $15 for even the most common 12s, and $25 on up for LPs. This is way over the realistic asking prices for this stuff. I wish I'd had more time to explore NY when I was visiting, as the only vinyl shops I got to visit were Rose's and Vinylmania -- which despite the very small selection of used disco, still had several things of interest to me, at prices about 1/3 of what Rose's was asking. If you come across Einzelganger and don't like it, I'll gladly buy it off you, or trade you for several of my restoration projects. I guess I've got that insane "gotta get 'em all!" mentality... |

I'm not sure if Einzelgänger is the title of the album, the artist name, or both. It was released around 1974 or 1975, and was the first release on the US Oasis label. It was not a big seller, and this is cited as one of the reasons why Casablanca refused to put out the "Love Machine" LP as the follow-up to "Love To Love You Baby". |
