Thumbs up Re: Lurkers To This Forum, Please Introduce Yourself

I had browsed through the site (discomusic) a long time ago and ran through it again today; it's the first time I noticed the forum section and... here I am! So glad to find a place like this, congrats to the creators... I'm quite young (19, f) and have ALWAYS been keen on disco music/life - a lot of times I wish I could have LIVED the disco experience. Oh, forgot to mention, I'm from Greece. I'm in LOVE with the 70's - not only in terms of music - and everything retro. I mostly listen to music of yesterdays, and to a great extent DISCO music. I'm no pro however and I see this place as a great opportunity to find out more about the *insert my username ;)* Therefore I'm not sure I'll have something big to contribute to the discussions over here but I'm really looking forward "talk disco" with you all...

Nice being here, cu and keep on...

!!!

I was the one who mentionned PAJ here. I was spinning in those days in a couple of clubs in Montreal (I stopped in 2001). And since the Limelight was opened until 6am, (all the clubs were closing at 3:00am), we ended up there. It was the place.

Robert Ouimet was THE dj in town, one, if not the best there was. He had it. And when you have it, of course, you're the one who gets all the newest unreleased songs and remixes.

PAJ was there, they released awesome remixes, all splicing remixes. The Ritchie Family remix, Flip, Don't leave me this way were great. Crowd would go nutz when they played. They ended up making remix for Radio too.

The P in PAJ contacted me through PM this morning and we ended up talking on the phone. They have really good things in the work, but the best I heard was that they had all those 70's remixes in digital forms.

So stay tuned. If you like the way Music (the one shown by Bernie) is remixed, you'll fall down your chair once you hear Freedom to express yourself and a lot more.

Take care all :-D

Greetings from Tejas!

I am a 30-yr old Disco / Music obsessisive recently relocated to the 4th most populous city in the US. I DJ (old, new, inbetween) and write for the online music publication Stylus. I worship at the altar of Patrick Adams, Giorgio Moroder, David Mancuso, Walter Gibbons, etc.

I've been in love with Disco since hearing Disco Forever in 2000. Before that, I had no concept of "Underground" Disco or what have you. I was a big fan of soul and funk, but hearing that mix was a revelation. Since then I have learned the joys of digging through boxes of dusty 12"es and tracking down favorite producers, remixers, labels and artists.

Glad to come aboard and looking forward to much heated debate! ;)

Bless you girl, and keep digging in those boxes of dusty 12's. You should have been born at a time when you could have lived the experience (about 15 to 20 years earlier); but you'll catch up! Don't stop listening and dancing.

They may have ditched the violins, violas, cellos, percussions, bongas, congas, trumpets, trombones, flugel horns, background singers, etc., but Disco actually still lives; name changed and appearance changed to entertainment the new generations afterwards.

Check out my thread, When Exactly Did Disco Die and When Was the Beginning of the End? You'll learn quite a bit about the life and death of Disco.

Are you the Tony Hollis who has the dance single out? Or is that your Son? Please let me know. Also, you seem to have had an inside track on many things during the Disco era; what are you up to now?
