The name is Robbie, I've been around the music scene for over 25 years.

Here's a pic of "some" of my collection when I was moving out of my old house.
I bought a bunch of those plastic containers, they are alright but not perfect :( , unfortunately the lid doesn't lock/close well when full with vinyl, and the records at the ends will get warped as the container is not "square", so be careful

THANKS for the advice, and yes, you are right, they DON'T lock properly.

Unfortunately I was in a rush to move into my new house and used those instead of carboard boxes to move all my vinyl. I've learned from experience that cardboard doesn't support the weight of all those records.

Now they are properly stored on wood shelves :D

Hello Everyone I'm danny , 32 living in Belgium, & a huge music lover.
I guess I got that music virus from my grandmother....
I like all kinds of music (depends on my mood) , but have a more favourite
into Disco. I collect music since years , and until last year I wrote in a gay magazine the monthly cd reviews.. So I got a lot of new cd's & vynil at that time.
Since my grandmother died, i got her complete music collection (I still have to unpack it all) , & I buy mostly Older 12" , or Madonna (Yep I grew up with her)
The first old Disco 12" i buyed was on a flee market Sheila & b-devotion Spacer.
only for 0,50€ (less in dollars)
I discovered the site trough disco delivery blog, & will visit this often, but i guess writting will not happen that much

hello
Im not sure how I got here, but I joined anyway, I was cruising the internet in search of information for a book Im writing about my life, which will include my rein as a famous clubkid, and when I looked for info about a place called the River club where I worked as a doorman in 1983, a site came up about legendary Deejay Steve Fabus. I tried to leave Steve a message, but the page would not let me inless I became a member, so Here I am. I still would like to leave Steve a message, but I dont know how to locate him from this point, I dont know my way around your site jest yet.

please forward to Steve Fabus:
Hey Steve
I havnt heard your name in a long time, but this was great reading about you here. Im in the process of writing a book about my life which will include my infamous club years, beginning with Studio 54. My lover at the time, Kevin Garrity, who did the lights, and myself, both worked at the River club durring that period in ,83. I dont know if you will remember me, but I was known as Lenny 54. My book has been a real process, but Im glade I made a lot of notes along the way, the internet has been a huge help in filling in the blanks. I hope that you are happy and healthy and everything is wonderfull in your life....

After lurking for some time I decided to register today.:)

I'm a 30-year old guy from Germany enjoying lots of different music styles (house, r&b, latin, jazz and others).

My first encounter with disco probably occured around 1990. It comes from some tapes with disco music a friend of my parents didn't want anymore and then came into my posession (Saturday Night Fever soundtrack and some "Disco Tops" compilation).

Until recently I dad no deeper interest in disco music apart from some purchases made through the years, e.g. the soundtracks from "54" and "Last Days of Disco", "Jumpin"/ "Jumpin' 2", some albums from Michael Jackson or Stevie Wonder (does "Do I Do" count as disco? ).

What really sparked my interest in the genre was a compilation from my favoured house label Defected called "Dimitri From Paris In The House Of Love". I needed to get Grace Jones' "La Vie En Rose" unmixed! Gladly I found it on "A Tom Moulton Mix". :D

Since then I bought quite a few releases, mainly compilations.

Hopefully I'll find more interesting releases through this forum.:-)

Hi Disco lovers !!!

Just discovered this awesome site the last week, I feel very pleased to be here, I enjoyed the golden age of disco, in my city , I never could to dance in clubs due to my age (I was 8 or 9), but in every party , and in school's festivals always we had dance music and dance contests, my Mom spend many money buying me records, ahh !, the memories, those were fantastic years in my life.

My skills writing in english are not so strong, my natural language is spanish, if someone of you don't undertstand some phrase or post, let me know, I will try my best !!!

My first record , was Dance (Disco Heat) by Sylvester , in 1978.

But right now I'm a big fan of Malavasi productions, (Change, Peter Jacques, Macho, etc), to me, some of the finest disco music ever produced.

Saludos a todos amigos.

Hello everyone on Discomusic
Miestorm here, I havnt left a message for a while so I decided to pop in. I have been spending a lot of the last 2 weeks on Myspace, its become more work than fun keeping up with all of the comments, but now, my charactor Beast of Cyberspace ( who I become after midnight ) on Myspace, has a small following, so, there it is. As far as this site, as I said, Im not sure how I got here, but, It is a good place to put messages or information, Im not sure what else I can do here, I have not had any communications with anyone from this site, but, Im going to look around and see whats up.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Actually there are several businesses that will do the transfer for you, but I've never used one because I simply REFUSE to put a valuable, impossible-to-replace recording in the mail (the CDs I get from BMG often have broken jewel cases when I get them). If one of my treasured, 30 year old, out-of-print disco records were to be lost or damaged in transit, it's not like I can trot down to the Virgin Megastore for a replacement. I would only allow one of these LP to CD businesses to do a transfer locally, and only in my presence.....

Hey guys, I'm back, not that you've missed me. I lost the link, no excuse, I know, in the days of google, but I simply started doing other things on the net.

Received a "Hey, we're still here" email from Bernie an hour or so ago, so I decided to come and see what's going on here.

Take care all.

 Okay so I'm a little em-bare-assed that I've been called out as a "lurker"...which sounds a little like "peeper"...or "voyeur"...okay...

I am an ol' skooler in that I fell in love with Disco the first time I heard it...I also quickly distinguished what would be my disco prefs and what I would toss into the recycle bin! I've read many of the posts here and I've found two types: folks who dig The Bee Gees and Gloria Gaynor as the penultimate in disco and those who don't...I'm in the latter category.

That's a little about who I am in the disco rolodex!
