I thought that we had a disco hater on board

so I got somewhat defensive about "Anonymous"

Okay I will go with the flow since most people think it's a joke. I read Anonymous post and read HustleBaby's angry response and I took it as an insult as well and virtually bypassed Boodika's and Bernie's reply and wrote an angry response. Still that post does seem light hearted so I will give Anonymous the benefit of the doubt since it doesn't seem vicious. I just hope it is only a joke though because you do get people who come on message boards and start trouble. I'm a fan of the computer game "The Sims" and on one of the message boards there has been teenagers getting on the board and writing vulgar messages and I got the impression someone decided to do the same on your Disco message board. I do have a question for Bernie, has anyone ever come on this board and bagged out disco music in the past?

One could argue that on occasion record companies did put out stuff on a disco label and on a 12" that just did not cut it as disco. One such is PARADISE GARAGE by TIM CURRY, the flamboyant actor who starred in THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW and opposite Mr. Cruise in Ridley Scott's LEGEND. Tim's 1979 track has the actor delivering sleazy pick-up lines and there is a kind of thumping disco beat vaguely audible beneath masses of horribly screeching upfront rock guitars. PARADISE GARAGE is not disco but rock dance music for people who could not manage a syncopated move to save their lives.

OK, it's time I let the cat out of the bag. I initially thought this thing would die but this topic has now taken on a life of it's own. So... its time I confess that "anonymous" was me.

And I didn't mean for the message to be "anonymous", but I was just getting used to the new board and forgot to register and thus... it appeared "anonymous".

Obviously this was a JOKE!!! Perhaps its my warped sense of Dutch humour. But it really was meant as a JOKE!!! Please, people, lighten up. The world is not as much fun as it used to be anyway.

By the way, what really surprised me that I posted my JOKE (out of safety I will just keep on saying this, hoping that I can be forgiven and/or understood correctly), anyway, that I posted my joke on the 22nd, a good two weeks after Leanmean posted her JOKE!!! And that it took another whole week before another reponse came. Strange timeline, huh?

Anyway - can we agree a few things:

- it was a JOKE!!!

- Leanmean's comment was a JOKE too (and obviously much funnier than my reply, which I hasten to ad was a JOKE!!!!).

- Bernie can probably verify that I am the poster as he will no doubt have access to IP addresses and I use two (office and home).

- It really was a JOKE!!!

- Let's close the subject... please?

PS What DOES make a record a disco record anyway? Could be an interesting thread...

Maarten,

I laughed my ASS off over your message! You must have the biggest balls to admit that was YOU amongst all this hoo haw! You da man!!! Keep the comedy coming. You're SO right. This world is NOT that much fun after Sept. 11 and we really need a little gag once in awhile to help us keep our sanity.

Too damn funny!!! Much mirth to you all!

Thanks for letting us know Maarten. I'll take it as a joke, and I apologise for lashing out at you in my earlier replies. Like I said I thought it was one of those disco haters who likes coming on disco boards and give people a hard time. Thank god this board isn't getting poisoned by people who want to bag out disco music. Anyhow I'm happy you let us know and I do apologise for being nasty with my replies.

Hi Maarten, let's put a stone over.. as we say in Italy.

I just want to thank you for having told us the truth, so that we are now more sure no one has ever poisoned the board.

Excuse me if I started the hard discussion but I love this board and I can't accept a disco hater...

Welcome francesco to Discomusic.com! I think with Giovanni we are three posting from Italy. Where are you posting from?

Enjoy this board!

This is too funny. The last time I was on the board was when "Anonymous", a/k/a Maarten, posted his reply to Leanmean. I laughed because I knew it was "one of us" giving Lean a hard time for bringing back that "gawd-awful" topic. Then today I see that half of you wanted to beat the shit out of him.

Now that we've relaxed a little, let's also agree to laugh a lot more. The world is going crazy. We can't go there with it.

My newest 'words to live by' are from the movie "2010". The American Astronauts and Russian Cosmonauts are arguing as they circle around Jupiter whilst on the home planet their two countries are about five seconds away from WWIII. The American Commander, frustrated to hell screams to the crew: "JUST BECAUSE OUR GOVERNMENTS ARE ACTING LIKE ASSHOLES DOESN'T MEAN WE HAVE TO." (Yeah, he ends the sentence with a preposition. Who cares?) I think I'm going to keep those words in mind for a good while.

Peace,

Nicky
