Hi! I found this site a few days ago. Thanks to the info here I've been able to find songs that I had been trying to locate for years but I didn't know the titles or the artists. This past Saturday I went to a store and spent almost $300 in CDs but got most of what I wanted. Yesterday I put together a CD with my favorites. Here are some of them:

Lime - Your love and Babe, we're gonna love tonight

Kano - I'm ready

Fat Larry's Band - Looking for love

La Flavour - Mandolay

Destinations - Move on up

Baby 'O - In the forest

Sugar Hill Gang - Rappers' Delight

Azoto - San Salvador

Voyage - Souvenirs

Gino Soccio - Try it out

Love and Kisses - I found love

Chic - I want you love; Le Freak; Dance, Dance, Dance; Everybody Dance; and Good Times

Earth, Wind and Fire - September; and Boogie Wonderland

Queen - Another One Bites the Dust

Musique - In the bush

French Kiss - Panic

France Jolie - Come to me

Tantra - Hills of Katmandu

And there is so much more!

Welcome Ricardo.

I like your cd especially Looking For Love and Mandolay. Were you living in Venezuala at the time these songs were hits? If so were they popular at the discos?

Hi! Mandolay and Looking for Love were big hits in Venezuela at that time. I was living in a city named Maracay, which is about 90 miles west of Caracas the capital.

I remember many parties we played at where things didn't start all that well but the moment we played Mandolay everybody went wild. The same thing happened with Looking for Love. Those were some really cool times!

Hello and welcome Ricardo! You'll love this site. It's the #1 site for Disco music.

What CD's did you buy that has "Hills of Katmandu" by Tantra and "In The Forest" by Baby 'O? I love those songs and would like to get the CD's. Thanks for any help you might have! David

Thanks for the info ricardo. Looking For Love is one of my favorites. It got more play in Connecticut where I grew up than in Boston where I was going to NU at the time.

Hi! i guess I should have been a bit more specific on how I put together this Cd. Hillls and In The forest I had on an old tape of mine which I had transfered to a CD some time ago. I just copied those two songs to this new CD with all the newly found songs.

I'd love to find TANTRA and BABY 'O stuff on CD. Does anybody know where they might be available? I'd also love to get those other songs I asked about in the "Identify Songs" forum. If you know where to find that material on CD I'd appreciate the info.

Thanks!

Ricardo

"In The Forest" by Baby 'O is on the "Disco Spectrum" 2-part CD. Bernie used to advertise this.

What acting/singing family children were part of the Baby 'O group? The father won an Academy Award; mom is a famous vocalist.

Welcome aboard Ricardo! I see that you have one of my most-wanted songs "Hills of Katmandu". I went to a shop hoping to get a cd of mixed classics including "HoK" but I was unsucessful. Anyway I'm listening to:

1.Another Star - Stevie Wonder

2.Get Dancin'/I Wanna Dance Wit Choo - Disco Tex & The Sex-O-Lettes

3.Running Away - Roy Ayers

4.Love Trilogy - Donna Summer

5.Best of Hall & Oates

6.Brazil/American Generation - Ritchie Family

7.The Mexican - Bombers

8.Bad Luck/The Love I Lost - Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes

9.La Vie En Rose - Grace Jones

Ya gonna like it here!

I've just finished putting together my latest MD - red TDK! - and happily enough, some of the songs you put on your CD are on my MD ...

Fat Larry's Band - Looking For Love

Chic - Dance Dance Dance

Chic - Good Times

Good taste or what?

For my next MD, looks like I shall have to dig out my US 12" of Baby'O "In The Forest".

I've always loved that track - especially the bits where the saxophone solos weave in and out of those percussuion breaks.

For your info, some of the other tunes I put on this MD include ...

One Way - Do Your Thang (my current rave of the moment)

Jupiter Beyond - River Drive

Herbie Hancock - Saturday Night, Stars In Your Eyes

Kinzman Dazz - Love Design

Coffee - I Wanna Dance With You

Trammps - Zing ..

Slick - Space Bass

Sweet Thunder - Everybod's Singing Love Songs

Arnie's Love - She's Out Of My Life

Patrice Rushen - Number One (finally found it at last)

Eastside Connection - You're So Right For Me

Krystol - After The Dance

Like you say - there is so much more!!

At the risk of sounding even more like Glenn Close in "Fatal Attraction" than I normally do ("I will NOT be ignored"), I will once again pose the Trivia Question:

What famous Show Biz family members were part of the Baby 'O group?

Dad won a Best Actor Oscar.

Mom is a famous Vocalist

Cousin is a Big Name Movie Star.

Any guesses????

I'll take a guess. Could it be the Ferrers.

Jose Ferrer

Rosemary Clooney

George Clooney

You are correct NRGBEAT!!!

The offspring of Ferrer/Clooney are some of the folks credited as Baby 'O. Rosie gets a "Thank-you".

BTW, with the exception of the great "In The Forest" cut, this has got to be one of the WORST LP's I have in my collection. I think Mark Hudson (of the Hudson Bros?) sings lead vocals on a few tracks. There are some really awful cuts. I gotta pull it out tonight and report back.
