Default Best From Artist 59 - Harold Melvin & The Bluenotes

Here's classic philly R&B and disco rolled up into one. With Teddy's voice carrying the lyrics, this group seemed to have all (to me at least).
This week I'll pick later and see what the rest of you disco revelers pick. I already know what my favorite is by the way.

Hi Paul :D

I was wondering when you were gonna bring up these guys. When you listed Teddy awhile back, I thought that HM&BN were coming soon - are you teasing us?? :-? :D :-? :D . Anyway I have more than one favorite (as usual) and they are:

Bad Luck (fast)
Hope That We Can Be Together Soon (slow)

They did this song called "Praying" that I really liked - haven't heard it for ages though.

I guess I'd have to go with Wake Up Everybody, The Love I Lost, If You Don't Know Me By Now. I've got a few of their albums that I've never played.

Mmmmm.

'The Love I Lost', for the memories.
'Wake Up Everybody', ditto
'Don't Leave Me This Way', because it's such an emotional, moody disco song and rendition.
'You Know How To Make Me Feel So Good', for its beauty.
'Prayin'', 'cos it's the first record I bought by Melvin.
...and 'Tonight's The Night' by Sharon Paige, which is just the Bluenotes with Ms. Paige frontin' (I'm sure..).

I consider Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes to be one of the first disco acts, and one of the best. Anyways, here are my favorite songs of theirs:

"Bad Luck"
"The Love I Lost"
"If You Don't Know Me By Now"

Hey Delight :P

When I did Teddy there was so little response that I figured people didn't get into that kinda philly sound. As a result I not only pushed back but almost forgot to come back to groups like the Bluenotes, The O'Jays, etc.
Anyway, I hope to take you up on your last song

Harold Melvin/Bluenotes is still one of those classic Philly acts. Everything mentioned above was good... Paul, I would like to add:

My pick is pretty easy, "The Love I Lost."
