I must say I mostly agree with your views Nrgbeat. These are subjects that has been covered extensively already.
However, subjects like these are bound to create some controversy around the boards and I always enjoy reading people's different take on the subject in question.

Also, i still think we should embrace the more recent board members if they decide to start threads on these subjects. I hardly believe we can expect them to go through the entire amount of threads on the message board just to see whether a similar subject has been discussed before.

...What about endless Summer..?

When I joined the 'board I asked a similar question about the supposed decline of disco and its influence on other kinds of music, yet got a couple of patronising replies outlining what house music was - and little else.

Regardless, it seems as if this 'board most discusses disco's good times or the bad times, with little inbetween.

Concerning the death of disco, I think this topic is interesting and essential. Whenever it appears it features new opinions and reviews.

Besides, there are always new faces on the board... to them the topic is new.

Maybe there are also outsiders who visit... so it is good to have topics like these, because they are also a kind of recollection of historical facts... maybe it can help to change an outsider's opinion about disco (they generally think disco is crap).

I agree with your sentiments.I think we can all agree that the one commonality we have is our passion and love of the music of this era.Just like previous generations whose passion maybe the 50's/60's music or the Big Band Era.I would like to think that Bernie has created a website that promotes the appreciation of the Disco genre and is a continuing educational resource for both neophites and veterans.I despite having been through the whole scene and a substantial disco collection continue to learn interesting facts and discovering songs from that era that passed me by at the time.Let's not get smug about ourselves and continue to encourage thoughtful and informative discussion

I don't think disco is crap. I love disco. Wait a minute, you weren't talking about me. Sorry, my bad.

...indeed, but take away the ego and smugness which can drive a forum and you'd have very dull 'board!

Good day, Paulo.
The passage was copied directly via the 'quote' button so I'm not sure how you got involved! Gremlins somewhere, methinks - maybe when I press the 'submit' button now, Art will be misquoted! Sorry it showed your name incorrectly.

...Actually, now I've posted this, I can see what went wrong the first time. I'll edit more carefully in future. :D

Maybe, just maybe, this and a few other subjects should become stickies and continually be at the top of the forum.
Once you've been posting here for a while it does get more difficult to think of new subjects and newer posters are never gonna be able to trawl through all the previous ones, so a little repetition has got to be expected. At least someone's view can be more interesting than pure info and the mine's bigger/better/brighter than yours syndrome. No one likes a smart ass, so as far as I'm concerned, long live topics like "When Did Disco Die". On that we can all join in, and if we want to, for the umpteenth time.
If anyone's sick of certain subjects reappearing, you've only got yourself to blame if you read 'em (yeah I do blame myself for reading the overwhelming amount of Summer crud :D that gets posted, but I can at least post an alternative take on things, just for balance).

Good suggestion Quinny. I'm super busy right now, but I'll go through some of the posts during the next few weeks to see if they should be made "Sticky."
