OK fellow discoholics. Let me shift gears and to go a lady who's voice I immediately fell in love with, Teena Marie. My favorite from her is "Behind The Groove."

Never a big fan of hers, Paul, but I did like "L-O-V-I-N" (sp)

I'm gonna choose "Lovergirl" with it's catch-phrase "I just wanna rock your world" as my fave Teena Marie title.

Honorable mention, Square Biz was hot!!!

Behind the Groove had two versions, one with doing an ad-lib after the chorus and the original version from the 12" single w/I Need Your Lovin' on the B Side.

Lovergirl was a hit in 1985 on EPIC for Teena Marie. With that in mind, I'll pick up a copy today from Vinylmania. They have plenty of them left.

My favorite Teena Marie song is definitely "I Need Your Lovin'".

"Now That I Found You", a sweet, sweet ballad. "I Need Your Lovin'" still gets my butt on the dance floor:

Just a little lovin' this will do/L-O-V-E luuuvin'/Just a little lovin' me and you.

Love that S@#%!

I remember when "Behind The Groove" first came out, Tenna Marie was picked as one who would someday have a Top 10 pop hit, which "Lovergirl" turned out to be.

Hey Lord

Does the ad-lib occur at the beginning of the song?

So Boodi, was it her voice her just her music you didn't dig?

I'll have to say "Behind The Groove". Her famous "Fire & Desire" duet with Rick James was also nice!

Although I'm not a big fan of Teena Marie, "Behind The Groove" does rank as one of my all-time favorites. Irresistable and propulsive. Also liked "Square Biz."
