Default Tony Etoria

One of the records I always loved was I Can Prove It by Tony Etoria on GTO (UK) in 1977.

I have not heard that record played for ages, and have never seen it mentioned within these threads.

Anybody else remember that one? It has a nice summery feel and always evokes strong memories for me of that summer of '77. It was a minor hit in the UK, so I recall? I have always wondered if that was the only tune he ever recorded or was there more?

:)

I remember the record well, I'm sure it was a chart hit - it was on a label called Jem Toby as well, I once found out in a pirate radio competition!

I have another single by him from 1980, called 'So Near, So Far'. It's on a label called Cobra and is produced by Patrick Adams. Not bad - and our Tony's a pretty boy on the sleeve, too! :o

I remember the record well and played it too. Never one of my faves though.
In my feeble brain, I always have this record lumped with 'Dancin' Easy' by Danny Williams for some reason.

Good shout Jazz-Pilgrim. I'd forgotten all about this!

Not such a minor hit, made 21 on the UK pop chart.

Probably the reason why I have never found ithis record is that I have been looking in the wrong record boxes. I don't think think it ever got a 12-inch release - or did it? Maybe I should look in the 7-inch boxes??

I remember reading in James Hamilton's page in Record Mirror loooong ago that Tony Etoria worked as a 'back-room boy' in the studio with Alec Costandinos on many of his records. I bet this would ruin his reputation with many of the UK jazz-funk brigade if they knew he worked extensively with the king of euro-disco!

Never heard of this guy. Maybe he didn't reach over here. What's his music like?

I always thought 'I Can Prove It' sounded a bit like MJ's 'Rock With You'; it has that same classy, mellow vibe about it. I'm no expert here, but you would probably class this as 'morning music' Nicky.

NickNack: If I've got it lumped with Danny Williams - Dancin' Easy (which I doubt you've heard of either) and I'm more or less correct in that lumping, then I guess a similar record that you might know would be You'll Never Find - Lou Rawls .
That's if my memory is anything like as good as it could be.

Thanks, Steely and Quinny. Definitely a morning music sound. Maybe I'll look for around for this man... :)

Hi jazz-pilgrim
I remember it well, hadn't heard it for years then i discovered it on the CD "North of Watford Vol 2" http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/.../discomusiccom

Just played it again - it brings all those 70's memories flooding back

Definately only a 1 hit wonder here in the UK

The album also includes one of my all time favourites "Love on a Mountain Top - Robert Knight"
