Default Best From Artist 53 - Ashford & Simpson

I guess this topic has had a good rest and now it's time to resume it, esp. for one requester
I'll pick one ballad and one uptempo. My uptempo is "It Seems To Hang On." I remember doing "the rock" to that song all night long. My ballad is "Send It." They sound so magical doing that song.
Oh, it's been so long I hope I've the count for the artist correct

Ashford & Simpson had better luck writing songs for other artists on the Motown Label... My choices are:

Solid
Found A Cure
It Seems To Hang On :D

'Found A Cure' is completely lost on me, but seems to do it for many.
'Don't Cost You Nothing' funks hard!
'It Seems To Hang On' for sweetness!
'Bourgie, Bourgie' is not a long-time fave at all, but I find it pretty atmospheric.

Bourgie, Bourgie - Classic instrumental track
It Seems to Hang On - This song just makes you hot
Found a Cure - I hear the people screaming :D . Joyous club music: "Oooh, love'll fix it!"
Don't Cost You Nothin' - Exactly!
Gimme Something Real - Thank you, Art. I still have the lp. :)

Honorable Mentions:
Get Out Your Handkerchiefs
Love Don't Always Make It Right

...and Valerie doing "Can't It Wait Until Tomorrow" her way!

Surprisingly nobody's mentioned my fave "Nobody Knows"!!! Don't "nobody" know it???? :P

"Nobody knows the answer, to where all your little secrets lie.. Nobody knows the answer.....I ain't got no magic mirror"!!!!

Loved that one!!! Bobby V. worked this at Troc!!!! :D

PLUS, "Found A Cure". Terrific mid-tempo, joyous disco!!!

Their best stuff, howeve IMHO, were the classic duets they composed for Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell.

"Ain't No Mountain High Enough"
"You're All I Need To Get By"
"Ain't Nothing Like The Real Thing"
"If I Could Build My Whole World Around You"
"Your Precious Love"
"If This World Were Mine"
& others.

CLASSIC LOVE SONGS!!!!

Hi Paul :P

You're not gonna believe this - I was at a dance studio monday evening and the dj was playing "It Seems To Hang On" (btw a favorite) and I said to myself that they haven't played this song in a loooooooong time. AND I thought about your best artists thread - my inner suggestions were saying that Ashford & Simpson should be your next pick and LOW and BEHOLD there they were at #53 :o :D !!!!!!!!!!!!! It's amazing how this came up.....maybe I have sixth sense"  !

another fave is
"Bourgie Bourgie" :P

I can't stand :x "Solid" and "Found A Cure". I never understood the hoopla over these two songs :-?

*DISCO DELIGHT*
