Default Fantasy "You're Too Late" Versus Sparque "Let

Is it just me or does the bass line at the start of this song sound like a huge RIP off of Sparque's "Let's Go Dancing"...it's eerie. I just started to download this song and....voila...I knew I knew that riff. Weird.

Fantasy was a reasonably big tune here, bigger than Sparque. But on a 'versus' tip, Sparque wins hand down for me. It's a tad self indulgent, but the Levan/Kevorkian mix blows Larry Joseph's lumpen effort out of the water. If only it were a liitle less rambling and a bit more concise, it would be a near-perfect example of the state of NY dance music at the time, for me.
The first disco labels I worshipped at the altars of were Prelude and West End, just before I hit my teens - and as for West End, 'Let's Go Dancin'' is up there with the best of 'em. A stellar club record.

Default You're Too Late vs. Let's Go Dancin'

You're Too Late and Let's Go Dancin' were great records!

But no one talks about the Ted Currier mix of I've Got To Find A Way - Zena Dejonay

hmmmm...... If that wasn't a cover of both songs, then what were?

Both Fantasy & Zena Dejonay were Tony Valor productions, so any similarity between the two is merely coincidental! :D

Sparque and Fantasy don't sound too alike to me, I must admit. As I heard 'Let's Go Dancing' later, it always reminded me of Skyy, a little.

Young Zena was a mere pup when she made that record, I think she was about 14! LP pictured on TVI website...wonder what it's like...probably awful...

Default Zena & Fantasy

Wow! I didn't know that Zena was so young when she made "I've Got To Find A Way". Very nice photo of her by the way! This is what I love about our Forum members, getting those exclusives! This production four years later was more of a modern version than "You're Too Late" for Tony Valor. "You're Too Late" had more airplay than "I've Got To Find A Way" which played on WBLS (Ted Currier) mostly as opposed to KTU for "You're Too Late".
