Next month I'll be in the US with a friend. We are going there for tourism but would take a chance to buy some good disco & funky vinyls (no CDs) We plan to pass NEW JERSEY, PHILADELPHIA, WASHINGTON, PITTSBURGH, INDIANAPOLIS, CHICAGO and then fly to LOS ANGELES/SAN DIEGO I would receive suggestions to find good record stores, record exchange sites, second hand dealers, flea markets, trading collectors and so on.... in the aforesaid areas Any help is greatly appreciated Thanks

When you're in Chicago, you should check out: Gramaphone Records 2663 North Clark, Chicago IL 60614 773-472-3683 (store) http://www.gramaphonerecords.com They have a very large old school/classics/disco/techno/ chicago classics section. As far as Chicago house goes, they have pretty much every Trax record that is available. The website doesn't indicate how much older, classic stuff they have - I think they mostly post the new releases. I love going there. I go to Chicago at least once a year and I always save up and spend several hundred dollars in this record store. They have good new releases too! Also, for new electronic dance music, check out: Weekend Records & Soap 1919 W. Division Chicago, Il. 60622 773-342-5768 http://www.weekendrecordsandsoap.com/ A really funky little shop, jam-packed with new releases. They seem to focus on Dutch electro, Detroit techno, and Chicago house....with a small but very decent selection of classics. It's a husband & wife who run the store, and she created her own line of skin-care products called Sparx. It's the only place I know where you can buy 100% natural orange-scented soap by the pound!!

While you're in L.A., if you're looking for "dance" vinyl, the places that comes to mind are "Perfect Beat" and "Prime Cut Records" -- both stores are located in West Hollywood on Santa Monica Boulevard. Both carry vinyl. Good luck.
