in 1977 DONNA SUMMER was at height of her success on both sides of the atlantic and had become a gay icon on the back of her disco music.

"could it be magic" and "i feel love" all found success in first gay clubs, then straight discos and the national record charts.

as for myself i dont like her music except bad girls track

Wonder how they missed mentioning the Phoenix, MDA, black beauties, All American Boy, Marcello's Pizza, the Elephant Walk, Streetlight Records and Megatone?

Star City's version of "I'm a man". The cover kinda spills the beans: check out the shape of the "thing" behind the manly worker, probably not whistling at bypassing girls while drinking out of his can of beer:

I managed to hear a sample of "Castro Boy" and found a cheap copy of the original US pressing... It's incredible! Thanks Marky et al for bringing this up and having prompted me to look into it; I just love the sound! And you can totally mix it with disco, hi NRG, or new wave; it's so catchy that you get into it at the first listen...

Anyway, I put it in the Disco Records A-Z section right here:

http://www.discomusic.com/records-more/8658_0_2_0_C/,

along with the Dutch re-pressing you can still easily mail-order, for any interested...

Who is the vocalist who speaks of all these things throughout the "Castro Boy" song?

Bret Arnst is credited as the "Castro Boy" ; FOR THE RECORD: this appears to be incorrect--should be Danny Williams, a friend of producer John Hedges. Williams says he wrote the lyrics and did the vocal. For the record.

Thank you. I don't have the actual record so didn't know. Is Bret Arnst anyone notable, or was this his "one-hit-wonder"?

I would think Bret Arnst was a friend of the producers who talked "nelly"...or did a good job fakin' it ....."FaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaBuuuuuuuuuuLouuuuSs ssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss!!!!!!!!!!!
:t ongue::ton gue::tongu e: :t ongue:

It now appears that the vocal was by Danny Williams--what Bret Arnst got thanked for is left to to your imagination!!!
