| Trendies have been wetting their pants lately over some previously "unreleased", dynamite Elton John disco track(!) - it's only bloody 'Are You Ready For Love' from his Thom Bell sessions!!!! Played by the hippest radio DJs (Peterson, Jay, etc) - furnished with a re-edit and hyped as the dogs' 'nads! Pink (yuck) vinyl, too! Just found out from a pal at a large TV company that it's been licensed for a HUGE amount of cash to promote their new sports season. So, more suit 'n' flowers money for Elton -and doubtless some kudos as well (finally) - he's hip with the kids again! |

| Uh, why the bad attitude? It's a good track, it really deserves a re-release. It was a bit strange that Peterson introduced it as a previously unreleased track (well, I believed him as I had never heard the track before, I only found out the truth when I was trying to find out some information about it with Google). Can anyone remember how popular the track was back in the day? Are you serious about that sports promotion thing? Sounds really strange that an unknown Elton John disco track would be used to advertize sports, most sports fans being homophopic brutes (no offence, just an observation, I'm a sports fan myself). Then again, they do use Queen. |

|
Uh, why the bad attitude? It's a good track, it really deserves a re-release. It was a bit strange that Peterson introduced it as a previously unreleased track (well, I believed him as I had never heard the track before, I only found out the truth when I was trying to find out some information about it with Google). Bad attitude? Maybe you feel a bit sheepish because you believed the hype? It's a nice record but deserving of a re-release compared to better disco records? I just found it interesting that a couple of lies and a full head of steam on the blag front has the hipsters creaming themselves over Elton John. Can't you see just a little bit of irony in this? Can anyone remember how popular the track was back in the day? Yes. Not very. Are you serious about that sports promotion thing? .
Yes. |

| What have they done to Elton's song, ma????? I ask with trepidation...cause they seem to only wanna destroy what was interesting about songs in their crazed attempts to deconstruct them for the modern kidz!!!! Elton's "Thom Bell Sessions" yielded one pop/r&b/ac hit in the U.S. --"Mama Can't Buy You Love"....never heard anything played in the clubs...too much material being released at that time. The critics always dismissed this effort...but, Thom Bell freak that I am, I rather liked it.

| Don't get me wrong, I did like the record at the time - it got a lot of plays on pop radio. Everyone who mentioned it to me over the past couple of months seemed surprised that I knew this 'previously unissued' tune. Sure, it's more credible than say, 'Bite Your Lip' as a disco record, but..! |

| Hey guys, THE THOM BELL SESSIONS, a CD by ELTON JOHN with all the tracks he recorded in PHILLY with THOM BELL (one of my favorite record producers just like MARKY, I'm a big fan of his sound and songs). The CD contains MAMA CAN'T BUY YOU LOVE (a song I personally like, this one received some radio airplay, at least here in BRASIL, where ELTON was huge back in the day), COUNTRY LOVE SONG, etc. I find this aborted project far better than his partnership with PETE BELOTTE - VICTIM OF LOVE, I'm sure you guys remember this album. Peace, zeca azevedo, just another victim of love |

| Bringing this back around... I suppose this would be why he closed the Diana Tribute with this song. There was rumor that the "boys" asked him to do Candle in the Wind. I found this selection, however, a bit refreshing, but is this really being used by some sports conglomerate? And if used in that text, I find him using it to close the concert as some crass commercialism. Has the song a big resurgance in England? I believe Eltons carreer in the states is quite dead at this time. |

Anyway, I don't think ELTON's career in the States is dead. As much as I know, his concert career is alive and well. I'm sure he still knows how many holes it takes to fill the Madison Square Garden. |
