| Yes, I would be very interested in your opinion of the book Love Saves the Day. Heres a tune I remember from my early disco nights YouTube - Fatback Band - (Are You Ready) Do The Bus Stop Last edited by Bernie; October 15th, 2009 at 06:47 PM. Reason: url |

| Well, over all I guess the book gave some good history from BITD. BUT, I was very sad to see that so much was left out. I spent 6 hours on that interview with Tim. He wrote very little about my experience and nothing about the DJ's i spoke about in Brooklyn and Queens. He did mention that I went to England and played. But failed to say that I was there 6 times on tour and gave that country mixing. It seems that every book that is written always has a focus on the NY City scene and we read about the same Dj's all the time. Barry Lederer (RIP) was the only person plannig a book about the Disco scene in the Boros of NY. We cannot forget DJ's like, Ralphie Dee, Danny Cole, Gary Baxter, Jimmy Yu, Bacho Mangual, Ron Rogers, Richie Conte, Mike Pace, Jimmy Monte, Mark Zimmer, Joe Giacalone, Rick Coscia just to name a few. But, this is not the place for me to ramble on, this is the place for the music from BITD, the 45 time. Oh, and I love that Fatback Band tune. "Street Dance", an absolute floor filler!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KVpQLxDvCy0

| I love the songs you are posting here. FYI. Mike Pace from L'amour Disco in Brooklyn. He taught me my skills.... I always wondered why they never talked about the outer borough DJ's .....Here is one for you.... YouTube - NS KTF 497 Four Tops Don't Bring Back Memories |

| Hi Pooch, Thanks for sharing your views. It was probably inevitable that lots of information got left out. I sensed that the author did lots of research and even if he didnt directly use your interviews, the spirit of what you said was carried into the book. BTW, I've never met Tim. I would like to learn more the scene in the NY Boros from bitd and the DJs you have listed. Perhaps this site might publish an article if you wrote something ? Or how about writing about your visits to the UK - you are a legend over here ! Heres another gem from 1975 which I fondly remember. I cant find the clip from Soul Train so this will have to do. | Raz, I lovin the Four tops jam, Thanks!!! So you know Mike Pace. We have to talk sometime. I remember when he played at Hadaar in Staten Island back in 73. Scientist, Love the Archie Bell tunes, actually, I have a few others that I will bring up. Thanks for the mention of legend in the UK. And so we continue to dig and continue to find gems from BITD. | I look forward to reading the interview. Heres another Philly tune with some great drumming from the mighty Earl Young. It has an instrumental b-side. Pooch - did you ever mix with 2 copies of this ? YouTube - Philly Devotions - I Just can't say goodbye |

| This was played to death when I worked at the DOK West in the OC. I used to mix back and forth 3 or 4 times. There was this singer, Gary, was his name, maybe from Disneyland, he used to sing live, using the dj mike, to the instrumental side. The crowd loved it.

| The Don Downing tune is a great dance record. I've always thought it had a Northern Soul feel to it. Danny - did you encounter Northern Soul on your visits to the UK ? Also, the fantastic Tom Moulton mix of this tune is available on a Soul Jazz compilation. Hope you enjoy this one YouTube - Do It Any Way You Wanna |
