'Lectric Funk

Does anyone know what ever happened to 'Lectric Funk circa 1980? They sang "Shanghai'd" it was released on JDC Records at that time, Im trying to find out if that 12" has been re-released on CD.
Any info is appreciated.

This 12" (5:45)was originaly released in '79 on a small Label out of NYC. BlockBuster Records (BB69) and was produced by John Ferrara (Love Attack), AFAIK it was never a big hit, I don't know if it was ever released on CD, I liked the song but I was in the minority.

Some people thought this song was rubbish. Personally, I never heard it so i cannot comment on this fantastic slice of pure euro disco botty spanking music.

Lectric Funk apparantly went on to become Dennis Waterman and starred in the hit TV series Minder and The Sweeney (the latter with John Thore - who recorded an LP for Magic Disc)

I always used my copy of "Shaghaied" to test the sound system way back then because it had the deepest, fattest bottom end that you would ever likely to hear on a 12" single b4 CD. :D

Still have a copy in near mint condition.

I just gave this song another spin, (it has been 20 years!) and I had forgotten about the 1-1,2-2,3-3,4-4, intro, I used this in a few club edits back then, I remember now why this song was not very popular at the time, it has that “rock” underground feel to it that was not the predominant club sound in ’79, I also remember mixing “Beat the Clock “ by Spark with it, like I said I liked it but I was always looking for something different to play at the time.

Tony West you are right about the ‘Bottom end’ , I just had to fine tune my sub to play it….

its on a multi song / artist cd "Thumpin' Disco Quick Mixx II", Thump records #TH4830.....also has Panic / Fr Kiss, Rocket to ur heart / Lisa, Love Attack / Ferrara, Queen of fools /Jessica williams etc etc ...from 1996
