| Graham Central Station - POW 1978 (WOW now THAT's what I call FUNNNKYYYYYYY BASS!!! :D ) James Brown - Lickin' Stick 1969 (Great piece of early funk, like the song title too :D . Sometimes I even take the piss out of the song for a bit of fun by singing "Mama come here quick, belt me with that lickin stick, I've been a baaaaaaaad boy"   , great song) James Brown - Payback 1973 (Another great super cool funky song from the godfather of soul, this one is addictive yeah :D , all funkateers would have to LOVE this song! :D ) Kay Gees - Kay Gees Theme 1976 (This song is FANTASTIC!!! :D LOVE the percussion break :D ) Whispers - One For The Money 1976 (GREAT piece of disco funk by the Whispers which I'm starting to listen to more often, I LOVE the bit where they go "'D' and an 'I' and a 'S' and a 'CO'" while the bass is thumpin away 8) :D and the bass/drumbeat solo after that kicks arse YEAH!!! :D ) Junie - Granny's Funky Rolls Royce (This song has been high on my favourites for nearly 6 months, the drum beat is sooooooooooooooo FUNKY :D 8) and I love Junie's impersonation of an old granny    . Speaking of that, Junie did the granny impersonation with the Ohio Players on the song "Funky Worm".) Renee Geyer - Sweet Love 1975 (Some great soul/funk music done by the first Australian lady of soul Renee Geyer) Doug Parkinson - Everlasting Love 1974 (Carl Calton's disco version is really good, but our Aussie artist Doug Parkinson did an EVEN BETTER version of that song the same year as it has more of a disco wah wah sound to it, it also sounds just as soulful as Carl's version too) Bobby Sax & The New Messiah - Outhouse 73 (I LOVE listening to this song in my car while driving on the freeway at 100km/h or more, it sounds like one of those early 70's high speed cop chase songs and it's SOOOOO COOOOOL :D !!!) Bar-Kays - Son Of Shaft/Feel It [Wattstax Live Concert Version] 1972 (Their studio recording was GREAT but their live version sounds EVEN BETTER and EVEN MORE FUNKIER!!! :D :D :D ) Curtis Mayfield - Beautiful Brother Of Mine 1971 (Curtis mayfield is a LEGEND!!! :D :D :D This song is one of many Curtis Mayfield greats, this song has great disco potential as well as it does for funk! :D ) Rolling Stones - Hot Stuff 1976 (The Rolling Stones did a FANTASTIC job at having a crack at doing funky music. They certainly had the main ingredients for it, drum kit, bass and guitar. This song is HARDCORE ROCK/FUNK! :D To me this song goes up near the top of the "HARD FUNK SCALE". What really stands out in this song is the HARD thrashing drumbeat, it is HARDCORE! :D I reckon the Rolling stones had great potential of being a HARD FUNK band as well as being a rock'n'roll/hard rock band. Basically they like many popular rock artists like David Bowie, Wings, and many others have had a crack at different styles of music in the 70's and "Hot Stuff" is their BEST!!! :D :D :D ) Marcia Hines - Let The Music Play 1978 (Marcia did a number of GREAT disco songs in Australia between 1975 and 1981 and this has to be one of her BEST disco recordings! :D ) ________________________ ![]() Ahhh, there's nothing like the good old Aussie meat pie yeah! AUSSIE AUSSIE AUSSIE, OI OI OI!!! :D :D :D

I guess I'm not the only one who remembers "Skippy." Funky might just a little too young (If only I were so lucky :D ) to know that show. By the way Funky, I love the way you remind me of songs from back in da day. POW is what I'm talkin' 'bout. We use to say "Pow... I got chya, Caught with your drawers down." :D

| To DJ Jimmy M. To be honest, this ain't the standard Aussie meat pie, I was searchin around for a good meat pie to show and this was the best image I could find. The standard meat pie is like that but without the peas and carrots. This meat pie is one of MANY variants of meat pie. Common types are normal steak, steak and potato, stake and onion, cheese and bacon, and then you've got the further variants like steak and veg (the one shown above), vegetarian, steak and kidney, chicken and curry etc... and the pies are usually the size of your palm. To Hustlebaby. The pie is basically a variant of my ever changing signature. Eversince Bernie has taken down the signatures I've decided to whack different signatures after each post whacking something Australian at the end and the meat pie is a VERY popular sort of food in Australia especially for those footy and cricket fans who hang out at the footy or cricket games and usually a can of VB or Fosters or Tooheys goes with it. The meat pie is EVERYWHERE over here, in the bakeries, in the supermarkets in the freezers, at the schools, at the colleges, at restaurants, at the footy and the cricket, EVERYWHERE!!! Anyhow the next signature will be something else that's Australian. To efunk_adelic. I know James Brown's "Give It Up" but I'll check out "Give Me Some Skin", I assume that song would have to be VERY FUNKY :D ! I guess there would be a lot of hand slapping in that song hehehe    . To NickNack. "Your Love Still Brings Me To My Knees" is definitely done by Marcia Hines. I didn't know it hit big in USA. Anyhow it was a big hit in Australia too and she performed it on the Aussie pop show "Countdown" back in 1981 and it's a great clip too :D . To DISCODISK and Paul. Well there was a comeback of "Skippy The Kangaroo" series in the early 1990s but nothing after that. I've only really watched the comeback series. Though I recently got a bunch of classic Aussie shows from some bloke in Queensland and haven't watched them all yet but I think theres some old skool Skippy on one of the tapes. Anyhow god knows what happened to Skippy now, he's probably now renamed himself Licky the funky bass pluckin kangaroo and replaced Bootsy    ___________________________ ![]() Holden Kingswood ute. Australia's ULTIMATE ocker machine! :D Has room in the back tray for 16 pisstank yobbos and a slab of beer
