Default Ramblin's of a Disco music - not record collector

I did give as a BD present my 12" of Parts 1/2 of Huntchback of ND. I bet that is worth a few coins - I wonder if I can get it back???

On a general note: Though I might be missing a great songs/mixes, I was blessed to have been exposed to ALOT of disco music via the sole
disco radio station in Chicago 78-80 and pretty much have all I want
(2000 records). Though there are a few I would like (Martin Circus's
Disco Circus), I have stop hunting for stuff. I gather I have about
80-90% of all the quality stuff made. Other quality stuff are now
showing up on CD at normal prices.

One of these days all these records are going to show up on EBAY (after I burn them onto CD) - they take up too much space and are a royal pain to cart around when I move. Ill let you know all know when that will happen.

Note to Hustle Baby:
I can burn a copies of 3,4,5,6,8,9. Since these are all way out of print, no loss to the artists or record companies. The music should be
shared.

Note to MPS:
The "Love Boat" theme was in 12"... I gave it away a few years back.

Note to In the Grove:
Looking at my LUO My Sweet Summer Suite Album I can say that the cut is
5:01 in length - cant speak to the 12".

Note to Stuckin1979:
I have an unopened More...More...More album still strink-wrapped. I use the copy I got that cost .99 and was pressed on heavy duty vinyl - still in great shape. Never saw the 12" and considering that the album as all the extended cuts, never really needed it.

The 12" I'm looking for (if it exists) is the one by Jack Jones, not the Key Hano version, which I also had once. Which one are you talking about?

Some hard to find albums or 12" that come to mind:
Angel Eyes by Roxy Music 12"
and the song Dr Music. I forgot the name of the lady who sang it. (that was hard to find here in LA when it came out)
The two Wing and a Prayer albums on Atlantic
City of Angels by The Miracles the lp
The 12" Don't Take Away the Music by Tavares
That Love in C Minor by The Love and Soul Orchestra on Casablanca 12"
Thats all I can think of right now. It was along time ago.
Most of my vinyl is gone.
What about picture discs and colored vinyl??
I saved most of those.

Interesting you mention "Angel Eyes" by Roxy Music. This song became very sought after in SF in the early 1980's (it was released in 1979). DJs started playing it a lot at Troc cause it had that rock meets disco sound of the time, I guess. If you hadn't picked it up when it was first released, it was very hard to find. Miss Karen from Aloha DID find it in some used bin someplace and allowed me to tape it.

It wasn't until the early 1990's that I found my own copy here in LA and it was a French import with a gorgeous picture sleeve. I paid $10.00 (the most I've ever paid for any used vinyl, I'm seriously CHEAP!!!!). Regrets? None from me, regarding that purchase.

'Angel Eyes' by Roxy Music is my all-time favourite rock-disco crossover (along with 'Glamour Profession' by Steely Dan) but luckily pour moi the 12" is very easily found in the UK. (dont u hate people who use bits of French in a pretentious way? )

Default Most difficult record to find

I hear Cerrone's "Love In C Minor" on a 12" as opposed to the LP version is a very difficult find. From what I understand the 12" version is only about 8 minutes long. The less lengthy version is composed well. Similar to Love De-Luxe "Here Comes That Sound Again" on the 12" versus the LP version.

I have a Canadian pressing Malligator 12" of Cerrone's "Love in C Minor", and it clocks at 16:24. This is on the B side. The A side holds "Supernature" at 13:50.

Is there a US 12", and on what label? Was the original 12" pressed in France, and on what label?

The 12 inch I mentioned above is a US release on Atlantic Records.

Default difficult to find?

I know this record might be a little too new, but this explicit song by Khia..."My Neck, my back"...I think it might only be on CD? The nice thing about the song, is that it is one of those hip hop type songs that actually crosses the line into dance music genre, very mixable....but might be better as an instrumental to some tastes...

Default Promos

12 inch singles that were strictly issued as promos. For example, "Do You Love What You Feel" by Rufus and Chaka Khan is apparently only available in an extended version on the 12 inch single which was only a promo copy at 6:40. The LP version is only about 4 plus minutes long, along with the 7" 45 copy which were the only commercially available copies. I'd like to know what other 12" copies which did not have the same version as an LP that were promos only...
