Ladyboy - what re-edits? I've got reels and reels of edits by people like Rudi De Paola, Edward Ford, Rick Coskia, Todd Carpenter and all those guys. What ou wanna trade?

Leather - I'll burn you a CD. What you wanna trade?

That Charanga record is a bootleg. It's one of the earliest 12" boots. It was actually a studio session by the Salsoul Orchestra who were goofing around playing latin versions of other peoples' records. Someone who worked at the studio stole a tape and pressed up some copies calling it Charanga 76. It sold so well that he had to make a follow up, hence the 'band' were hastily brought together and Good Times etc were recorded.

Hey guys...

This starts getting more and more interesting!

Now you talk about remixes I didn't know existed. But when I got my own copy of the "You got Me Running" 12" I always thought that something was missing. I was pretty sure I'd heard a longer mix by some dj sometime. So it was only pressed in 25 copies? Could get crazy on ebay I guess. And the exchanging of remixes by cdr/mp3 sure sounds interesting. Anyone got an ftp maybe?

It amazes me that people will pay extortionate amounts for vinyl when tracks mentioned on this thread such as Cerrone & Denise Lasalle are readily available on CD for 'normal' prices. I too prefer original vinyl but I also go for whatever is cheapest. (I know I have this 'cheap' reputation!! )

These are the edits I've got:
HEATWAVE – GOIN’ CRAZY
ELKIE BROOKS – RISING COST OF LOVE
CHIC – GOOD TIMES
WOOD, BRASS & STEEL – FUNKANOVA
EDDY GRANT – CALIFORNIA STYLE
GINO SOCCIO – WHODUNNIT?
J-LO – PLAY
JACKSON 5 – MIRRORS OF MY MIND
THE QUICK – TOUCH
TONY CAMILLO’S BAZUKA – DYNOMITE
THE WAITRESSES – BREAD & BUTTER
COMATEENS – GET OFF MY CASE
DAVID BOWIE – LET’S DANCE
PERSIA – INCH BY INCH
KAY-GEES – S.T.P.
EDDY GRANT – NOBODY’S GOT TIME
JACKSON 5 – BODY LANGUAGE
LOVE COMMITTEE - LAW & ORDER
LOVE SYMPHONY ORCH. – LET’S MAKE LOVE IN PUBLIC PLACES
LOVE SYMPHONY ORCH. – LET ME BE YOUR FANTASY
MATSUBARA – S.O.S.
NILE RODGERS – STAY OUT OF THE LIGHT
WAS (NOT WAS) – OUT COME THE FREAKS
GARY CRISS – RIO DE JANEIRO
PEOPLE’S CHOICE – JAM, JAM, JAM
STEELY DAN – GREEN EARRINGS
TAKE THREE – TONITE (ALL RIGHT)
TIMMY THOMAS – AFRICANO
CARLY SIMON – WHY?
CHOCOLAT’S – EL CARAVANERO
MCFADDEN & WHITE HEAD – AIN’T NO STOPPIN’
MATT FRETTON – IT’S SO HIGH
UNLIMITED TOUCH – IN THE MIDDLE

Steely, I'm with you all the way on that one. I've got Cerrone on the album and I've got it on a comp, but I'd love it on 12-inch. However, there's no bloody way I'm paying a load for it. I've long since resigned myself to never owning it, but on lists like this there's nothing wrong with wishing.

Ladyboygrimsby, that's an impressive list, who did those edits? I have over 15,000 12"s so there's probably something I can trade if these are the real McKoy. Rufus - let's talk. I have some edits too and I think we can deal.

Ladyboy, the list of tunes is good in the main, but who actually did the edits? I assume these are edits done in the 70's/80's by familiar names, ones you have recovered from reels and slates? If so, I can provide some swaps of similiar material.

I'm just asking because I've been burnt before by people on the net trading edits. Nowadays anyone can load a song into their computer and chop it up, then claimb it is an "edit". Though I'm sure no-one here would do that, I'm only really intersted in the original iterm.

Here is some of the ones I have on DAT/Slate or CD, which I will trade for similiar original material. Rufus - are there any here that would interest you for CDing the Lenny Williams?

FK Erucu Medley - wicked breaks mix
Glitter Band "..Blind" - Rick Giantos edit
Music is my Way of Life - Bruce Forrest edit (with crazy od's)
The Spirits in it - Forrest again - was the flip of the slate
Jackson 5 "Forever and..." FK
Steve Thompsons Philly Medley - really good this
Bowie - Golden Years by Todd Gack? Never heard of him b4, but edit is slammin - from Sunshine sound slate
Bad Luck Bobby DJ
TC Curtis "Should have..." Shep Pettibone re-edit - he must have had the tapes for this?
NYCC "I'll Keep a light" David Todd, but very different to version on 12" or LP

OK Ladyboy. Now I'm confused - you say you have edits to trade, but you're listing things like J-Lo? Correct me if I'm wrong, but she wasn't around in the 1970s. Who did these edits? As someone said above, any fool can throw together an edit on a PC, real edits were done on reels by true masters. I'll trade with you, but only for stuff of the same calibre as I'm giving up. For example I have probably 20 Walter Gibbons re-edits, all unissued, his personal DJ shit. What you got to match that?

Was the Black Sun "Black Sun" originally on Buddha, or some canadian label? Was it a canadian group? Is it even hard to find, or expensive?

Rufus - check your pm's - I'm sure we can trade some of this rare shit on CD

Forrrce - thanks for the doubles list, there is some obscure shit on there bro - will send you mine later today. I'm sure we can do some biz.

I hope I'm not being too precious about these edits, but it has taken me years of searchin and buying many duds to come up with these bullets. I was lucky, when I lived in Philly in the early 80's this stuff was worthless, so I picked up loads of reels, slates, Disconets etc from local DJ's, junk shops and dealers. It was very time consuming though. Anytime you give this stuff out on CD to someone, you don't know how many times they will swap, copy and sell it on. Making my comodity less valuable and exchangable. So when I do let it go (and I do), it has to be for something of similiar worth.

The credits say: ..recorded in Wally (Hamilton)'s studio, somewhere in New Jersey, so it may be an american group.
There are copies in GEMM, 10 - 35 $ must be payed.
The group did a second album, which is weaker than the debut but the song "Woman " features the Bob Sinclar "Ich rocke" sample.

???????????

I disagree with most of the titles you name. Yes, some of them are hard to find, like Eddie Drennon or CJ & co, but all the other are pretty easy, even if not everything you named is on 12" !!
