Oh yeah - and a UK copy of Exodus by Huey Lewis (from 1979 I think and on mercury), which I also sold to the states.

This information is from the top of my head with out researching---
The hardest 12" to find when I was spinning was DR MUSIC. I don't remember who sang it, but I never got it.-----
Also The 12" of DISCO LUCY.------
That special 7" small hole of Liquid Gold. I think its called TAKE A LITTLE.
ELEVATOR by (forgot her name---Jeanie comes to mind) I think it was on a 12.---------
The 45 or album version of MAIN LINE by Ashford and Simpson on WB I believe.

Not quite Disco (more Nothern Soul really) but very hard to find is the 12 inch of "Love is Serious Business" by Alfie Davison. Very rarely shows up, think there's only been 1 copy on E-Bay in the last 18 months...:o

I've been looking for Franki Valli's "Soul/Heaven's Above" medley

I'd also be delighted to find a 12" of the original Ray Martinez "I'm Free"

the most hard to find and rare 12” in my collection surely is
*Taana Gardner -'when you touch me' on West End 1979
released as a ‘special disco radio version' (7’.40”) and 'special radio version' (4’.29”) for radio promotion only.
These versions differ from the commercially released 12" as they have different arrangements of the song done especially for radio and the timing differs from the commercial versions on 12” vocal version (10’36”) and instrumental (11’.03”). The vocal version of the 12" has been released on the Taana Gardner album as well.

Still looking for ‘Always There’ by Willie Bobo on Columbia.....

Not to worry DJStix, the quality of the transfer isn't that great on the CD compilation. Of course, the vinyl wasn't very good in the first place, but the CD sounds worst (IMHO)! :-(

Forgive me if it's been mentioned prevoiusly, but how rare is Motown Sounds 'Bad Mouthin' on UK 7" and 12" ? I've been doing a series of magazine articles on UK release Soul and Dance for a few years..this one was included and a few others that have been mentioned here too.

I think the hardest disco record for me to find would be The 21'st Creations Mr. Disco Radio. So if anyone knows where I could get it please let me know ASAP...Been having a hell of a time searching for it in used record stores, on-line, and even ebay...

you must have been lucky with that lot! Willie Bobo on Columbia 12" is rarely seen for sale and if it does it goes for big bucks!!

Air Power is another one.

The 'rarity' of in-demand records is still pushing prices up but IMO unneccessary since I have learned to wait....most titles on my wantlist turn up somewhere...at reasonable prices too. I try to avoid eBay these days since I can find my wants at other sources...

Default Mighty Pope

I just, totally by acciddent, stumbled on Mighty Pope's "Sweet Blindness". I have had this song on a tape that just was always one of my favorites, but I had no idea about the artist or the song title. I always assumed it was called "Music you can dance on" because he sings that about a 100 times.

He also sings the actual title of the song "Sweet blindness" the same number of times. I am now playing it again, and it is such a pefect track. Groovy bass, great "licking" rhythm guitar, wailing and pumping horns, a perfect break with percussion, and the haunting lyrics backed up with gospel like female vocals.

Perfection!

The track comes from an otherwise forgettable album (my opinion, you do not have to agree :-) ), but this track is easily one of my all-time favorites. Was it ever a single?

So there... a (for me) hard to find track, landing in my lap just like that!

There is a 12" single of it, it's the same as the LP version however.

This track appeared on an old episode of the smooth groovers podcast.
It was nice to be reminded of it.

I had it on a 7 inch vynil record and the LP vynil album called Love Island

It might be worth getting the album instead (if available) as its really great.
