I bought a copy of the LP about ten years back...for £2. :-? I notice that the value of certain things back then has increased to unimaginable proportions.
Everyone bear in mind, that you usually find that rare disc when you're not looking for it. I managed to get hold of a copy of Shock's 1981 album, also for £2, featuring "Gotta Have Your Love."...I've never seen it anywhere since.

I think ebay is the savior of any disco collector. Where else could one find so many hard to find old disco records?

I found the two cd compilations with 24 Hours A Day-- The Best Of Barbara Pennington (Hot Productions) and Sounds Like 54 (Smak Classics)-- but both of them have its only 3:20 clock version.

It doesn't make sense? I don't know why they don't put the extended versions on many of these compilations? On the "54" soundtrack they actually cut Gary's Gang "Keep On Dancing" right in the middle of the song. They do the same with Linda Clifford's "Don't Give It Up" on here best of CD. It's not like they run out of space on the CD's...

I found a 12" on UA label called Lullby of broadway by IRT
with a very weird flip side of the same tune, but the movie
version of the song from 1934 or 35. what made UA
do this 12" single? stange as hell
and just who was IRT anyway? think the name had somthing to do with the NYC subway?

1. Alec R. Costandinos - Americana
2. Tangerue - Tangerue
3. Strange Affair - Strange Affair
4. Jumbo - Get That Mojo Workin'
5. Jumbo - City Girls (but I found one about 2 yrs ago sealed! :) )

thats 5 off my endless hunts for vinyl through the years that all but number 5 I never can find a copy of anywhere.

The only thing that irked me with this CD is that the 'soft intro' on the "Strange Affair" track is cut. Hot Productions probably couldn't clean the surface noise off the vinyl.

I just saw your other post about the vinyl be warped. That could explain the edit as flourishing keyboards and strings would stick out like a sore thumb.

Only tracks I ever knew out of both LPs was "Im Ready/Disco Star" and "Everynight Everyday" from being played at the club (wouldnt have even known that "Im Ready/Disco Star was Strange Affair if it wasnt for someone helping me out on this forum with a song ID a few years back). Actualy had never heard any of the other tracks so wouldnt know what they originaly sounded like on vinyl. Was anything else edited out of em? Someday i'll find a copy on vinyl...and hopefully they'll both be mint and I can master em better than Hot productions did LOL

I can't say for sure because I never had the Tangerue lp in my possession. I remembered the cuts once I heard the CD but couldn't tell you if they're full length or not. Seem to be. That one change I mentioned is the only one on Strange Affair. If you know the intro to Rhetta Hughes, "Throwing It All Away", then you get what I'm talking about. Very mellow, soft and lush before the beat kicks in. 8)

I have a Canadian vinyl copy of Tanguruι on Unidisc (original, not reissue). Heavily compressed during mastering though. I guess this was a really lucky find; it seems a lot of people are looking for this album.

Still haven't heard Strange Affair...
