Default Top 500 Disco Songs Chart - Reflections

Yeah I know it's old news, but we seemed to accept the listings for the new 500 and not really discuss it much. I think we were all licking our wounds somewhat, because we all came to realise, with very few exceptions, that our choices were very subjective with reference to the whole kit'n'kaboodle.
Only 3 of my choices made the 500 (I think), but that doesn't worry me at all. What does worry me are the still large number of glaring omissions, only for some very iffy records to be included.
It's a real shame that the chart information for the period isn't more readily accessible. I'm sure that a chart based on say 30 points for #1 going down to 1 point for #30 disco chart position would throw up a completely different result. the start and stop points would be a headache though and anyway, wouldn't '78 and '79 records figure less prominantly 'cos of the incredible turnover of records in those years.
Marky's Billboard chart threads have been incredibly interesting in many ways. They match more closely my idea of which records were THE cuts of the era (something my own list wouldn't have done) with the one proviso. The scene was so much different over here in the UK.
Now a UK all time best of disco chart would probably have you all jumping up and down.

Overall I feel the second 500 is slightly more representative of the disco scene as a whole, although I still feel the American bias is very evident. But then, I guess no other country took to Disco so wholeheartedly or quite so passionately.
