| Hello everybody ! can anybody name some good boogie-gospel songs/albums/artists ? I love this kind of very danceable gospel; A few exemples: - The Clark Sisters - You brought the sunshine, He keeps me company from their 1981 album. I heard some of their late 70s songs and some really sound disco! - Tramaine Hawkins - Her 1979 album has some good tracks, my favourite is "I'll be with him". - Ricky Womack & Christian Essence - This obscure band covered Sylvester's "I need You" in 1980 and made a great gospel version out of it, with a faster bpm ! - Kristle - The track "I'll go" from her 1980 lp "I can't let go"; love this one. - Glynna Session - "Love, it comes in all colours" from 1978, is a great mid tempo disco track ! Anybody can name a few more ? |

A couple more to add to the mix: The Sweet Inspirations "This World" The Gospelaires of Dayton, O. "God Helps Those Who Help Themselves" (a Bobby Eli composition on a Savoy/Arista 12" which, if I recall, actually made the disco charts in '78...) The "Hallelujah Disco" LP on ABC, with a whole bunch of obscure uptempo gospel tracks, including one from Carl "I Was Born This Way" Bean & Universal Love |

There's even a whole bunch more you could add to this category from the late 80s-early 90s, like: Sabrina Johnston's "Peace" The Sound of Blackness' "Testify" Guy Costley's "Somebody Here" (a sublime and little-remembered dance-gospel track) and The Source/Candi Staton's "You Got the Love" |

what about the Frankie Knuckles mix of "The Pressure" by Sounds of Blackness(I also like a slower track of theirs too-is it"Joy"?) And what about Ann Nesby's "Can I Get a Witness"(the Mousse T mix)-her vocals just BURNED through the grooves And then the MAW mix of Martha Wash's "Carry On", Juliet Roberts "Free Love" or Ultra Nates "Rejoicing"? I need to catch my breath! And I need to start searching for this Guy Costley track ASAP-PEACE and love and SOOOOOUl to you tmob! |
