| I would have to say Al green, pretty much all of his works would fall in the category that you have listed above and btw, his music is really great. Go with the flow..

| Thought of another good one in this genre... "CHOIR PRACTICE" - Lipps, Inc. (from their "Designer Music" LP)

| Amen! Was trying to think of that one earlier. Brilliant track. If you want to go way proto-disco, besides the already-mentioned "Dust Yourself Off," there's Eddie Kendricks' "He's a Friend." And the oh-so-sorely missed Zulema gave us the exquisite "Higher Plane" on her "Z-Licious" LP. |

| I was gonna say Mighty Clouds of Joy "Mighty High" but someone beat me to it. I always liked Pockets "Come and Go With Me", The OJays "Put Your Hands Together".

| "Hallelujah 2000", by Hallelujah 2000 (1978 Casablanca) Produced by Joe Long & Bobby Adcock, Arranged by Charles Merriam "O Holy Night", by The Joe Long Sound (1979 Unidisc) Produced by Joe Long & Bobby Adcock, Arranged by Charles Merriam "Midnight Rhythm" LP, by Midnight Rhythm (1978 Atlantic) Produced by Joe Long & Bobby Adcock, Arranged by Charles Merriam "Fly By Night", from Love At First Bite, by ***Pat Hodges (1979 Parachute) Produced by Joe Long & Bobby Adcock, Arranged by Charles Bernstein ***Pat Hodges did the lead vocals for all the Joe Long productions that I know of. Except Midnight Rhythm, where the vocals are credited to ***Hodges, James & Smith (yuppers. one and the same) Can you tell I have a slight affinity with Joe Long's recordings? Everything he produced was Choir-iffic... Larger-than-life... Bigger-than-big... (Admittedly, sometimes a little too big.) But he always struck me as creating the Disco version of Phil Spector's "Wall of Sound".

| I'm heading towards the 80's Passage - a project from bassplayer Louis Johnson ![]() (featuring "I am Somebody", recorded in the same year as the Glenn Jones-version)
