Mr. Ree .... I would agree with Stevie's assessment of the new vs. old song concert situation. I'd guess most artists wanna move forward and share their excitement about their newly written or recorded music BUT they gotta contend with the fans who wanna hear their favorites of yesteryear.

Hell, wasn't Rick Nelson's '72 comeback hit "Garden Party" about that very topic -- I think his lyrics said something along the lines of he'd rather hang up his guitar than play the same 'ole stuff over & over.

But the almighty dollar still speaks volumes, and if you advertised a concert by a vintage artist on 1 night as "all new music" and 1 night of "only your old favorites" . . . is there any doubt which night would sellout first ?

yep and that's exactly what Donna did! She sang only *3* less "old hits" than she has during her last two tours, but made this tour longer, gave it an intermission (in most venues) and added 8-9 new songs. Ideal if you ask me--and pretty foolish to complain. it's not pulling a Madonna.
