You guys/gals might like this. The tracklist reminds me of another club that gets talked about a lot on this site.

Not to be confused with Dana Andrews the actor.

Great link. I first went to the Monastery in '82, and these songs were typical of the playlist.

Did you go there back in the day? And are you in Seattle now? If so, do you go to the retro T-Dance at The Cuff? (DJ'd by John England, who posted the response on the RED ROOM site.)

I found the site by accident. I never lived in Seattle or went to the Monastery. I think I found it while Googling.

OK. I'm glad you posted the link. It brings back a lot of memories. The Monastery was an old church building with an enormous sound system. It felt like you were dancing inside a speaker. When you stumbled out at sunrise, your ears would ring for hours. It was a private all-ages club. They didn't sell alcohol. But if you were invited to the private rooms upstairs you could get just about anything. And in the basement, they had a big screen TV with a few rows of airplane seats, a jacuzzi, and bunk beds for the teen runaways who slept there. The owner was always in trouble with the law. He claimed it was still a church, that the disco dancing was part of the church services, and didn't pay taxes. After it was shut down, someone turned it into a Christian day care. And then it was ripped down and turned into a car rental lot. But many people still remember it.
