The last recording by Grace that I recall was a track on the soundtrack for the awful 1998 movie version of "The Avengers" with Ralph Fiennes & Uma Thurman. The track was played in the closing credits and I actually stopped walking out of the theater and stayed to hear it in its entirety. It's very "John Barry-James Bond Theme" in sound..."here comes the storm again"...AMG says Grace sounded at "her most awkward"...BUT I really liked the bombast...Grace Jones does Shirley Bassey...and did it very well, if ya ask me.

Looked on YouTube for a clip, but found nothing.

"Also in 1998 she sang the title track for the film remake of cult TV series The Avengers. The song "Storm" was written and produced by Bruce Woolley, Chris Elliott and Marius DeVries and was performed with The Radio Science Orchestra."

The Amazon page for the soundtrack has a little piece of it.
Amazon.com: The Avengers (Soundtrack): Ralph Fiennes, Uma Thurman, Sean Connery, Patrick Macnee, Jim Broadbent, Fiona Shaw, Eddie Izzard, Eileen Atkins, John Wood, Carmen Ejogo, Keeley Hawes, Shaun Ryder, Nicholas Woodeson, Michael Godley, Richard Lu

Thumbs up

Great info all , thanx !

Here's the website of Nick Hooker who directed "Corporate Cannibal" :

nick hooker

Grace also sang background-parts on the track "Revolution" by rapper Lil' Kim in 2000.
It's on youtube, but not my taste, though cool to hear Grace in there with her dramatic voice.

And Erykah Badu gave Grace a nod in her Honey-video

I'll be sure to tell her how HIGHLY you speak of her..
I'm sure it will COMPLETLY effect her CAREER and you and your opnion alone will keep her work from having high volume record sales~!!!

Her late 80s albums are another thing. While most seem to agree that Inside Story is a great album, I think it's really bad, and prefer Bulletproof Heart a lot more.
Totally agree westwood; everything up to 'Slave To The Rhythm' was absolutely fucking brilliant & then 'Inside Story' disappointed me so much & I haven't been too impressed with anything since. I really love Grace & I've got a very open mind about styles, but no matter how much I love an artist I won't buy the stuff if I don't like it. I feel the same about Donna & Diana, love 'em to bits but if a record doesn't appeal to me...I just can't be that much of a fan of anyone.

Hmm well I may be disappointed, but I'm still gonna buy it, for reasons that I explained in the Donna Summer I'm A Fire thread (listen to the new...).
Also because usually, they just can't go that wrong lol.
If you haven't purchased Bulletproof Heart you should, cause it bears no resemblance to Inside Story. Most songs are differnt in style to one another, and they all have really nice melodies. I have several favorites, none of which were singles (except Amado Mio).

Yes I have & it's OK but I rarely play it. The cover art is the best thing about it.

I go to brokedown record stores in hope's to find old Diana, Donna and Grace albums so I can make stand ups ,framed prints and other delicious artsy goodies with them and i never pass up a good Madleen Kane Rough Diamond cover or IF you can find it the 1977 Bionic boogie lp with the nipple knob..LIVE for it

I think I consider Bulletproof Heart one of my favorite albums of hers. I must say, I have never played her 3 disco albums! I am keeping them for a later time, they are like the holy grail lol.

The artowork of BH is indeed wonderful. The EMI reissue from a couple of years ago bothed it up a bit, the colors are off. And I hate that Copy Control logo and stuff, it ruins the design.

I can't remember which Grace single has a cool helmet design.
But yes, she's always been top-notch in the visual side of her music.

I don't mind some of those later 80's albums and really liked some of the 12" remixes.

I'm not perfect (Larry Levan/Latin Rascals mixes)
Party Girls (Thompson/Barbiero mix)
Crush (Thompson/Barbiero mix)
Crack attack (Remix) on B-side of US Amado mio
Victor should have been a jazz musician (Leibrand mix)
Love on top of love (C&C house mixes)

The latter reminds me of overdoing it at a club called Troll in London back in 1989/1990

" Put some Grace in your face"

Scary but fun from inside story always reminds me of something Bowie would have done in his heyday.

Crack Attack is one of my favorites, I really love that there's that melody lurking in the background :)
