Anyways, there is a song that did well nationally in 1975 Faith, Hope & Charity - To Each His Own (#50 Pop, #1 Soul) did not even crack the top 50 of New York???? how embarrasing.. that song rules :P :P ,,,,

I recall "To Each His Own" as a monster disco record in San Francisco in 1975 also. I'll have to check the New York charts to see where it peaked...but I'm sure it was a hit there also. Let's say it was #51.

I'm just typing what the Billboard charts printed...no editorializing on my part.

Just the facts, ma'am...er, uh ...Sir. :D

"To Each His Own" was a monster hit in the New York club scene. I don't know why it didn't place on Billboard but anyone who was hanging out at that time heard Faith, Hope & Charity.

hey discodisk,
because i was very young in 1975.... i didn't realize the impact that disco would make in the next few years... To Each His Own was in my top 10 favorite jams of that year... I would just die if they made of copy of it on 12" @ 45 rpm.... omg!!!!!! :D :D :D I wonder if they made a copy of it.... hehe. This LP that you are talking about is making my mouth water... what are the cuts on it?

The long version of "To Each His Own" (5:18 ) is on the RCA compilation "Big 12 Inches: More, More, More". The edited single version (3:23) is on "Super Rare Disco, Vol 1."

Faith Hop & Charity's "To Each His Own":

Most Likely the reason it is not on the year-end list, has to do with cutoff dates. Billboard's chart year might have ran from September 74 to October 75. I recall hearing this song on WNBC in New York and they were a pop station, so it's huge Disco set in NYC crossed it over.

I'm surprised as well that "To Each His Own" didn't place higher. Not that Connecticut is a media giant but it was very popular there. In fact I seem to remember seeing Faith Hope & Charity on The Mike Douglas or Dinah Shore show.

Very interesting chart. The fact that 4 British 'Futurist' acts made the Top 10 reflects the changing times, and the influence that this new wave of electronic dance music was having, on New York especially.

A number of the early landmark 'Electro-Funk' tracks are included, D Train 'You're The One For Me', Stone, Peech Boys, Sinnamon, Soul Sonic Force and Rockers Revenge, which all appear in my 'Essential Beats' list:
http://www.discomusic.com/disco-hist...ctro-funk.html

Totally shocked that Sharon Redd's 'Beat The Street' failed to make the chart. The 12" Kevorkian remix was absolutely massive here in the UK.

Nice one for reproducing these lists Markydefad.

What a massive surprise that Chas Jankel was numero uno. In comparison, he did absolutely diddly squat over here. I don't think I've ever heard the tune on radio, but I guess it's still played by certain stations in the U.S. on a fairly regular basis?
Disco really struggled in the U.S. in '82, eh?

Frankly Quinny, I'm a little surprised by the strong showing of Chas Jankel as well. I really like the song (I ripped it off from my sister  ) but I only heard it occasionally at clubs or on the radio.
Disco in the states was taking a viscous bashing here so I always felt mixed around this period of time. I like much of the music even though it doesn't really fit the "classic disco" style. At the same time I sense some of these songs got their run because of the dimwitted hatred of disco here.
