| Considering she's now around 66 y/o, I say let her resurrect her inner-dance-diva-self !!! Doubt she'll make as big a (promotional) splash as she did back in 1977, but I won't knock her for trying !!! Hell, if Ethel M. could bring back the beat at age 71 in 1979 . . . welcome back Charo in 2008 !!! |

Mind you, Sam was great. He really was! (A bit of a Diva, but certainly not unbearable. Though I'd have gladly pushed his boyfriend, at that time, down the stairs, backwards! But we all watched the show from stageside, by the Pool, thinking... <sigh> We almost had CHARO. I can't think of any act, that I was more excited about working with.

| Quote: This is not Charo's My Space page, it is a page made up by someone pretending to be her. This is her My Space page: MySpace.com - Charo - Beverly Hills, California - Acoustic / Latin / Flamenco - www.myspace.com/charomyspace I remember the first time seeing her on TV when visiting my aunt in the US for the first time in the 70's. I fell in love with her energy and her humor (not to mention the bigger than life personality). I find it amusing that most Americans think of her as a joke when she is considered one of the best flamenco guitarists in the world. She will be appearing at the Herbst Theatre in San Francisco on June 29 (she will also be Grand Marshall at San Francisco Pride that day). I met her at Medium Rare Music when she did a CD signing there the last time she did her sold-out concert at the Herbst Theatre, (I think, three years ago). She was so kind, attentive and sincere with everyone she met. And to have that kind of energy! Her concert was unbelievable. Of course, she did humorous things (Las Vegas style) but the second half was when she just played guitar and she astounded everyone in the theatre. And with all that said, I very much doubt she is older than 60 (and most likely younger). She looks fantastic and has a body that most 20 year olds would die for. Yes, I've seen plenty of people with plastic surgery and whether she has had it or not, she doesn't look like she has. She looks like a mature woman with a beautiful face, a gorgeous body and the kind of spirit that I wish most people possessed. I just bought this new CD single today and I love it. Dance mixes with her playing guitar (no singing). |

| Oh ye of little faith....Charo's new single is setting circuit and progressive nightclub dancefloors afire. A perfect summer instrumental for giving a place some atmosphere!

| This just in from billboard.com for the chart week ending August 9, 2008: RETURN OF THE CUCHI-CUCHI GIRL: Spanish-born singer/guitarist Charo placed three songs on the Hot Dance Club Play chart in the '70s, starting with "Dance a Little Bit Closer," No. 18 in 1978. Later that year, "Ole Ole" went to No. 36 and in 1979, "Stay With Me" stopped at No. 55. That appeared to be the end of her chart career on the Club Play list, until this week. Charo is back, entering at No. 49 with "Espana Cani" (Universal Wave) at No. 49. |
