| I really love this track. Can't get enough of it. So I was pleasantly surprised when I came across this on Youtube: Sounds like it was taken from the master tapes and remixed in the 80s or 90s. Did this come out on vinyl or CD? I don't like the way they put effects on the guitar, but the extra vocals are cool. It's definitely not one of those re-recordings, like you get on those cheapie compilations. Disco Funk |

Nope! The original version doesn't have a section where the instruments cut out, which is at the 2:08 point in the song. Also, there are extra ad-libbed vocals after the second verse/chorus not present in the original mix. Here's the original for your comparison: Disco Funk |

| **** Ah yes I hear it now .... at the 2:08 when it drops out ..etc. .. thanks for the second (original) version to compare the two . Good for you to pick up on that ! You have great ears for such. These alternate versions of songs are so intriguing .... the decisions that were made to develop that final cut .... what stayed in ... what stayed out... I think both of these work .... *****

| .. "Jam jam" was a big pop hit in the UK, thanks to heavy support from the British soul & jazzfunk fraternity .. the original version appears on the British compilation CD "The Greatest Hits of Philadelphia International 1976-1986 20 Soul Disco & Funk Smashes" Amazon.co.uk: greatest hits of philadelphia: Music .. but I've not heard this new mix .. it is very good .. can you contact the person on U-Tube responsible for downloading the track? They may be happy & willing to supply their source material .. .. could this be an exclusive from Tom Moulton's forthcoming "Philadelphia Classics Remixed Vol 2" ?? |

| Its possible it's from a forthcoming CD release, but I'm guessing it must have been on one of those cheapie or obscure disco compilations, the ones that feature songs that weren't properly cleared by copyrights or they got re-recorded versions of our favourite disco songs. It certainly would make sense to just ask the person. I gotta get an account, and then I'll get back to you if I find out where they got it from. I don't think it's the re-edit you wrote below, since it's a full remix, not just parts edited in and out of the track.Disco Funk |

| With the assistance of Quinny and Ashley (who confirmed the proper version by recently purchasing a copy of the 45), it turns out the alternate mix was a Tom Moulton remix put out back in '76 for the single release! For the longest time, I assumed the LP and single were the same mix, all because of that Philadelphia CD compilation that came out of the UK back in the late 90s that had Jam Jam Jam on it. Plus, I've heard at least one extended re-edit of this cut, and it only sounded like the LP mix, but with sections repeated. Nobody touched the 45, I guess. Disco Funk |
