| Just for the sheer comedy of the title: "Annie, I'm Not Your Daddy (If I Was You Wouldn't Be So Ugly.)" Oh yeah... And "Endicott", where he bemoans the existence of the Perfect Husband. "Cause I'm Free. Free of Any Made-To-Order Liability. Thank God I'm Free..." And I'll cast another vote for "My Male Curiosity." (mixing tip: It's perfect with Callello's "Sing, Sing, Sing" and The Pointer Sisters' "I'm So Excited" (It's almost a perfect double-time of the beats. 110bpm / 220bpm) Monsieur Darnell always managed to throw the ugly truth, right in your face. Wrapped in a perfectly satyrical bow.

| Kid Creole is a favorite of mine, all this songs you mentioned here I played all over Miami and vicinities. " My male curiosity" was a hit in the Miami area clubs for what seemed an eternity, long after it's release I used to get requests and good tips to play it, and many other Djs in this city did to. "Que Pasa-Me no pop I" by Coati Mundi is another song that should be added to the list of Kid Creole records that were hits in the dance floors of Miami. On a different note.. It's a shame that Pete Denis won’t be around to participate in his own thread about his most favorite song of all times “My male curiosity” by Kid Creole, He was banned for Life by management. Maybe I missed it, and something terribly wrong was said behind the scenes that warranted his quick expulsion, but as far as can tell He was banned for trivial reasons, possibly at the unfair insistence of some posters here, as far as I'm concern the exchange I witnessed in the Chat area should not constitute a reason for banishment of anyone here. Pete Denis postings’ style may have been a bit "rambunctious" for some, and yes, maybe even at times bordering on the insensitive and irreverent side, and even if his intoxicating enthusiasm for all things Disco may have been to much for some posters here to bear or understand, banning him after only a few weeks, before even getting to know him better, without allowing him time to learn how to use this new medium properly, (he just got a computer a few months back !) was IMO a cruel and swift decision not warranted by any of the postings I witnessed. I know that not all of Pete Denis' postings were in perfect harmony with the opinions and/or experiences of others in this board, but still his views were valid, and he deserves to be allowed to express them, just like anyone else in here, he had a lot to say and was very passionate about any subject related to Disco, especially the lost art of club Djing, a subject he loves dearly, and his swift banishment robs the forum of valuable insider’s experience and knowledge, and after all is said and done, isn’t that the very reason we all still hang out around here? It seems to me that every year that goes by more and more Disco pioneers are leaving us for the other side, I strongly believe that if DiscoMusic.com is serious about collecting and sharing within this pages the Disco memories of all those that experienced the Disco years, we should be inviting new posters like Pete Denis to share his fresh and different ‘views’ even if controversial, we should invite Pete Denis and other like him to join the discussion board, not banning them like the plague over some stupid insignificant issue. While some posters here were quick to celebrate their successful lobbying efforts to banish a fellow member of the Disco family for ever, and engaged within public view in disgusting and repugnant celebratory "gloating" and exchanges of "LOL" with others on the Chat area (BEFORE DELETING THEM!!!!), I for one protest the eviction of Pete Denis, (and that of old QUINNY too!) and will always remember the banishment of DJ Pete Denis as a sad day for Discomusic.com, and a sad day for all of us that now have lost another voice of experience in this forum, another voice of one of the few left that lived the Disco life first hand. Mixmachine. First let me preface this by saying I have no idea what triggered banning these members. That said, I'm inclined to agree with Mixmachine. Many of you old timers know that Mix and I don't always agree politically but I would fiercely defend his right to speak. I suspect he would do the same for me. The essence of free speech isn't defending it when it's harmless and trivial but when it risks outrage, just short of threats. That is the meaning of free speech! I also understand that this is Bernie's board, and like any other board he can set whatever arbitrary rules he sees fit. However I still remember the early days here when all kinds of topics were part of the site. I think it help to capture many members who remained here, myself included. I guess with the bannings occuring over the last several months, I'm concerned that there is a trend to silence people here for whatever reasons. paul

| Hey MM and Paul, I have to agree with you...I didn't know Pete, but did not have a problem with him, and if he did anything 'wrong' should have been censured another way before a ban ? I did know Quinny, and am surprised he has been banned also.....He was a good contributoer, and whilst he and I had our 'differences' , it lightened the load of life. As one who has been reprimanded myself, I am getting weary of these bans/yellow cards/ etc. etc... IF SOME OF THE PEOPLE ON HERE WOULD HAVE BEEN AROUND BACK IN THE DAY- WOULD THEY HAVE BEEN THE ONES TO CALL FOR THE CESSATION OF MALE ONLY DANCING / CALLING FOR BARS TO NOT SERVE 'FREAKS' / THE CLOSURE OF THE LOFT PARTY BECAUSE OF THE NOISE / BURN DISCO RECORDS BECAUSE THEY COULDN'T STAND THE FANS OF DISCO etc. etc... TOLERANCE IS WHAT DISCO MUSIC WAS ABOUT, AND PEOPLE ON SITES LIKE THIS SHOULD REMEMBER THAT AND TRY AND BE TOLERANT..... AND STOP THE 'VELVET ROPE' TYPE EGO TRIP It had to be said...... |

I have a lot of respect for you and value you as a longtime friend, experienced DJ from back in the day and admire the knowledge you share with everyone here on the site. However, when it comes to Pete Denis (a.k.a. Vyniljunkie - his spelling, not mine) there is more to it than meets the eye and I am very surprised that instead of sending me a private e-mail you chose to air it here without knowing all the facts.
